Paying double the cost of SDSU tuition for child care is ridiculous and unsustainable for parents. We need to invest in a free, universal child care system that won’t only help parents but will also be a boon for our economy.
I'm praying for the safety of thousands of San Diego-based troops heading to the Middle East– but we shouldn't be putting their lives at risk for this reckless, expensive war in the first place.
Trump’s AI framework is a joke and it’s clearly written by his Big Tech donors. We SHOULD have real federal guardrails on AI (but this is far from it), and in the absence of that, states like CA should be able to keep protecting people’s rights and safety.
No matter if you’re getting an abortion or in a mixed-status family, the government shouldn’t be able to use shady tactics like backdoor searches or warrantless tactics like buying your data to use it against you. That’s why I’ll keep fighting for your right to privacy.
Step 2 is mobilizing behind the bipartisan Government Surveillance Reform Act, which I’m so proud to support. This bill would protect Americans’ privacy and keep Americans safe.
That’s why we need to do everything we can to stop a clean reauthorization – and why I will vote NO. That’s Step 1.
Section 702 of FISA expires on April 20th – and a rubber-stamp reauthorization would let ICE, DHS, the intelligence community, and others keep violating your privacy rights.
Soon, the House will consider a clean reauthorization – meaning zero reforms, zero new protections – of FISA, a massive surveillance law that's been used to sweep up Americans' private communications without a warrant.
We already knew this was happening, but it’s still wild to see it confirmed – this week, the FBI Director admitted to buying Americans’ data without a warrant. We need to stop this practice NOW, and we have a plan to do it.
Every day since Trump decided to wage war against Iran, we’ve seen the price of gas go up. The average in San Diego County is now $5.58. This reckless war needs to end now.
Once or twice might be a coincidence, but ICE has detained dozens of people outside Camp Pendleton – even though judges have repeatedly ruled this is illegal. This is a pattern of abuse and it needs to end.
The only thing you need to know about the SAVE America Act is that it’s a voter suppression bill. Trump is fighting to stop millions of Americans from voting.
The answer to skyrocketing gas prices isn’t to start drilling off the coast of California – it’s to end Trump’s reckless war in Iran that caused the gas price hike in the first place!
This is unforgivable – Mohammad Nazeer Paktiawal was promised safety after bravely serving alongside our troops in Afghanistan. Instead, he died in ICE custody. His death must be investigated, but more than that, ICE needs to stop killing people now.
I wrote a bill that required DOD to establish policies and hire staff to prevent civilian harm in U.S. military operations. Trump and Hegseth fired staff and gutted these institutions and now 175 kids are dead. DOD needs to rebuild these capabilities now.
I’ll save James Comer some time – there was DEFINITELY mismanagement of the Epstein Files because we still don’t have all the files!!
Applications for our Summer 2026 internship in both Washington D.C. and San Diego are now open! For more information on how to apply:
The DOJ gave LiveNation and Ticketmaster a slap on the wrist after ripping off fans and bullying venues for years – and then laughing about it. I’m glad state Attorneys General are still suing to break them up. We need to go after the monopolies and corporations for real.
The first week of Donald Trump’s war cost the American people $11 billion. It’s obviously not over yet, and we’ll continue to spend a billion dollars a day that we could have invested in affordable child care, housing, or anything else productive.
I just visited Dilley and met with kids who are too scared and traumatized to eat and go to the bathroom – let alone play. It’s horrific and should alarm everyone in our country. We can’t let them do this in our name. We need to shut down Dilley.
