Almost 400,000 people in San Diego County alone receive Cal-Fresh (aka SNAP) benefits every month to afford food. Now, because Republicans in Congress are refusing to reopen the government, November benefits will likely be delayed.
ICE just denied our congressional oversight visit to the basement of the courthouse in San Diego today. But we’re not going to stop showing up and asking questions — because it’s our job.

Promises made, promises broken (again and again).
Trump has done nothing but drive up the costs of everyday goods with his tariffs and the complete chaos of his administration – and Americans are literally paying the price.
I just met with local health care providers who confirmed: if Republicans let ACA premium tax credits expire, thousands of San Diegans will see HUGE increases in their health insurance costs and be forced to decide between medical treatment and rent. We can’t let that happen.
I was glad to meet with local nonprofit partners – including ASYMCA, SDMAC, STEP, Zero8Hundred, and Feeding San Diego – to discuss the impacts of the government shutdown on our service members and their families and how these organizations are stepping up to provide support.
