For Speaker Johnson and the Republican House Majority to not allow a vote on legislation the Senate has already passed on a bipartisan basis to fully fund these critical agencies is shortsighted and cruel. 2/5
🧵The House got it wrong passing legislation with no chance to pass the Senate or become law. The Speaker should immediately allow a vote on the Senate bill which would fully fund TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard and Cyber Defense which are critical to our nation. 1/5
Republican Leaders think a bipartisan deal to pay TSA before Easter is “garbage.” I disagree. The Senate followed what I have said since this DHS Shutdown began: let us fund TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, and Cyber Defense now, and then continue to work on ICE and CBP reforms the American public demand.
In NW Ohio and across our Heartland farmers are hurting. 2 years of record drought, a year of reckless tariffs, export markets drying up abroad, and now War in Iran. 1/3 of the world fertilizer supply and 25% of oil pass through the Strait of Hormuz. As planting season is upon us costs are going up.
#EqualPayDay reminds us that women must work 84 days longer to earn the same pay as men did on average last year. That gap continues to grow—even more so for many women of color whose Equal Pay Day’s aren't until July and October! Equal pay for equal work isn’t optional—let’s work to close that gap!

Nothing says 'winning' like a $30 billion+ war that costs you at the pump, and now even when you're trying to send a damn care package.
🚨🚨🚨The President’s attack on Iran is going to hit your wallet again. For the first time in US history, the USPS will impose an 8% surcharge on packages to cover the rising cost of fuel. Add another cost working Americans will have to take on as we deal with new uncertainty in the Middle East.

I work every day for the families of NW Ohio and across our country, but if we look around, we see they're being squeezed due to the President’s hasty and reckless decisions. The average price of gasoline across our Buckeye State of Ohio is $3.82—nationwide it is up more than $1 a gallon in a month!
Little Flower Scouts had many questions about citizenship, agriculture, and protecting our environment. As a once and forever Little Flower Girl Scout, I was glad to be with them. I look forward to seeing all of these young Scouts again once they've earned their Citizenship Badges.
More workers say they are struggling in life than ever before. Whether it’s gas, food, rent, housing, or healthcare—costs are exploding and only getting worse. I wish the Trump White House was as focused on affordability as they are on gold ballrooms and limiting voting rights.
The Erie County Farm Bureau Legislative Breakfast was a great opportunity to share an update on my work to get a Farm Bill to a vote in Congress and bring costs down for farmers, producers, and growers. Skyrocketing fertilizer and diesel costs are on their minds.
Today marks 16 years of the Affordable Care Act! It is as a lifeline—expanding coverage, lowering costs, and protecting MILLIONS across our country. Families and businesses rely on ACA. We shouldn’t go backward. We MUST protect and strengthen the ACA so health care remains a right, not a privilege.
Pleased to join leaders of Toledo’s historic Hungarian and Polish-American communities at the Hungarian Club for an outstanding brunch filled with treasured recipes. We had a lively discussion on ways our traditions can be passed down for all generations of NW Ohioans to come.
The GOP control the House, Senate, and White House. I am a cosponsor of an Appropriations bill to fund TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, and Cyber Defense, but Speaker Johnson has refused it a vote. This week I signed a discharge petition to force a vote to end this shutdown and get our workers paid.
This year the Anthony Wayne High School Cheer Team brought home the Ohio State Championship and won the National Championship. Championships are not handed out—they are earned with early mornings, late nights and countless hours of practice. Your teamwork and perseverance bring us all so much pride!
Today, I rose with a heavy heart and deep gratitude to call for moment of silence to honor three courageous Ohio National Guard Members — Captain Seth Koval, Captain Curtis Angst, and Master Sergeant Tyler Simmons of the 121st Air Refueling Wing who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Our Toledo Regional Alliance was at work in DC this week! Their efforts to advocate for our communities drives local growth and is vital to our region. Together, we're committed to securing funding, strengthening infrastructure, and advancing policies that help grow NW Ohio.
