Trump is wasting millions of taxpayer dollars. That money should’ve made healthcare more affordable for millions or helped lower costs for hardworking families. Instead, he's spending it on himself and vanity projects.
This week, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the constitutional right that if you’re born in the United States, you ARE an American citizen. Trump and his ICE agents don’t get to abuse the Constitution for his anti-immigrant agenda.
With heat indices pushing up to 115 degrees this holiday weekend, I am asking everyone to look out for their neighbors. Please check on seniors, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and drink plenty of water. View resources & learn more: keepcool.illinois.gov
Speaker Johnson sent Congress home early yet again because he’s terrified of holding a vote that might upset the president. This isn’t the first time he’s blocked us from doing our jobs. It’s lazy, it’s disrespectful, and the American people deserve much better.
Happy National Postal Worker Day! My mom and brother retired from the postal service, so I know how tough you work to deliver everything from letters and packages to life-saving medications and ballots across the country! Thank you!
Joined Richard Chew and @heartlandsignal.bsky.social at the Ida B. Wells Festival over the weekend. Trump and his Republican allies are working overtime to rig the system and strip away Black voting power. I will not be bullied into silence while they try to roll back hard-earned civil rights.
Americans need real, commonsense gun safety laws. Republicans in Congress must join @housedemocrats.bsky.social in standing up to the gun lobby and act to make sure that every family can live free from fear.
Congress passed a bipartisan housing bill to bring down costs, build homes, and take on corporate landlords. Trump is holding it hostage, choosing his own political survival over real housing relief for families who are struggling right now.
Thank you to @kamlager-dove.house.gov for joining my Congressional Youth Cabinet this weekend. Investing in young leaders isn’t optional; it’s how we build safer, stronger communities. I will continue my fight to make sure their voices shape the future.
Healthcare should be a fundamental right, not a luxury. But because of cuts to Medicaid in the Republican’s Big Ugly law and the end of enhanced ACA tax credits, 36,247 people in my district will lose coverage. I am fighting to protect our healthcare, not corporate greed.
The National Guard will not make Chicago safer. Donald Trump's repeated threats to deploy troops aren't about reducing crime. It’s an abuse of power designed to instill fear and reinforce the reckless ICE raids that have terrorized Black and Brown communities across our city.
Chicago does not need empty threats from Donald Trump. Our city needs real action. Restore funding for violence intervention programs. Reopen the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Stop making it easier for illegal guns to reach our communities. Lives depend on it.
Every mother deserves high-quality, equitable healthcare, regardless of her zip code or skin color. I am proud to stand with the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social as a united front to center abortion access, maternal care, and women’s health in our national policies.
Trump’s war in Iran sent gas prices skyrocketing to an average of $4.21 per gallon in Illinois. Hardworking Americans are paying the price for Trump’s reckless foreign policy every time at the gas station. Now, Trump wants another $80 billion to fund his war.
There aren’t many people who understand the impact of gun violence like these community leaders. Maria, Diane, and Father Pfleger: thank you for your tireless work to end the gun violence epidemic. I am grateful to be in this work with each of you.
Public health means safe neighborhoods, clean air and water, healthy food, mental health support, affordable healthcare, and freedom from gun violence. Every person, regardless of zipcode, deserves the best public health.
