PEPFAR is one of the most successful global health programs to combat HIV/AIDS & has saved 26 million lives since 2003. House Republicans passed Trump’s recissions package that cuts PEPFAR by $400M. Ending PEPFAR could result in 26 million new HIV infections by 2040. We can’t go down that road.
We cannot and will not normalize what happened to @padilla.senate.gov. No one -- not a sitting US Senator or any human being -- should be thrown to the ground and handcuffed for simply doing their job. The abuse of power by the Trump administration is an attack on all of us.
@padilla.senate.gov was doing his job. He was asking questions at Sec. Noem’s public briefing. Why is the Trump admin so scared of dissent? Of others speaking the truth? They know they’re in the wrong. You cannot treat a sitting US Senator like this or silence the American People.
Senator Padilla’s office sends me this video of his take-down and detention at Sec. Noem’s press conference in L.A.
NOW: the House is debating Trump’s recissions package that steals $9.4 BILLION from the American people: ❌Cuts $1.1B from educational programs like Sesame Street ❌Cuts PEPFAR by $400M ❌Weakens US global power & cedes influence to China This is money that’s already been appropriated by Congress.
Nine years ago today, 49 people were shot and killed at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando as they were dancing and celebrating Pride Month. 53 more people were injured. I mourn with the LGBTQ+ community today and remain dedicated to ending gun violence and disarming hate. #DisarmHate
Graphic states "Remember the 49" and lists the 49 names of those who were killed at the Pulse Nightclub attack.
President Trump's Big, Ugly Bill cuts SNAP and Medicaid while giving tax breaks to the wealthy few. @housedemocrats.bsky.social and I heard from people in Pennsylvania today. They're warning Republicans that costs of living are already too high, and the Big, Ugly Bill would make it worse.
On Gun Violence Awareness Day, we remember those we’ve lost and the families forever changed. We can’t undo the harm gun violence has caused—but we can end it. Our kids, and their kids, deserve a future where they never have to say ‘enough is enough.’ Let’s work to make that future real. 🧡
Today, I #WearOrange for Hadiya Pendleton. For the 46,000 lives lost to gun violence every year in the US. For every American who’s been impacted by this public health epidemic. For every gun violence survivor. I stand with the @housedemocrats.bsky.social in the fight to #EndGunViolence.
PICTURE: Rep. Robin Kelly stands with House Democratic colleagues wearing orange in honor of gun violence survivors on House steps of the US Capitol.
Chicagoans reported to a routine immigration check-in yesterday — and instead were taken by ICE. These unlawful detentions caused chaos, and multiple aldermen and community members tried to protect their neighbors. They were simply following the law. (1/2)
Americans need real action from Congress to end gun violence. Moments of silence have never been enough. Thoughts and prayers have never been enough. This #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, I will continue my mission to build safer communities and #EndGunViolence.
Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” just got a lot uglier. The NONPARTISAN Congressional Budget Office released an updated analysis of the Republican budget cuts to Medicaid: 16 MILLION people will lose their healthcare. These Republican cuts are reckless and devastating.
Let’s be clear: emergency abortion care saves lives. EMTALA requires hospitals to provide any lifesaving care — but President Trump rescinded a guidance targeting emergency abortions. His decision will threaten the lives of pregnant patients. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
President Trump’s recissions package is needlessly cruel and evil. He is stealing $9.4 billion – money that has already been designated by Congress – from Sesame Street to Main Street, hurting everyday Americans to give tax breaks to the well-off and well-connected. www.cbsnews.com/news/white-h...
I heard a clear message from veterans and VA healthcare workers in @housedemocrats.bsky.social hearing yesterday: Trump's agenda is making it harder for veterans to receive the care they need. Attacks against the brave people who served our country in uniform are undignified & disrespectful.
PICTURE: Rep. Robin Kelly shakes hands with people who testified in a hearing about veteran care.
House Republicans voted to: ❌ Rip healthcare away from 13.7 million Americans ❌ Steal food from millions of kids, seniors, and veterans ❌ Reward the wealthy few with massive tax breaks It is a disgusting abomination.
