In no world does Trump deserve more recognition than the millions of enslaved Black Americans who realized they had independence on Juneteenth or MLK Jr. Ahead of Juneteenth, I was proud to introduce a bill to restore these and other service-oriented days as fee-free days. (2/2)
Our brave FBI agents can’t be bought. Their loyalty is to protecting the American people, not Kash Patel or Donald Trump. Americans deserve to know how their money is being spent and whether our FBI has been corrupted. @democrats-judiciary.house.gov are investigating.
Donald Trump has forced the Department of Justice to launch a sham investigation into Governor Newsom and his family solely because he's a political enemy. They don't have any evidence, and they aren't even looking for a particular crime. (1/2)
My office is demanding the Trump Administration release any and all records on the Trump DOJ’s politically motivated, baseless fishing expedition. The American people deserve to know who ordered this abuse of power and how far it goes.
Governor Gavin Newsom today announced his office filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking records from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) related to President Donald Trump's politically motivated investigation into the Governor and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The investigation, which Governor Newsom announced earlier today, was ordered by President Trump after publicly calling for Newsom's arrest.
13 brave American servicemembers died, our munitions stockpiles are depleted, our bases have billions in damages, our oil reserves are the lowest they’ve been in 43 years, and our allies no longer trust us. All just to reopen a Strait that was open before the war.
For Dreamers, America is home. They came here as children and now are integral members of our communities. But 14 years after DACA, Trump’s inhumane immigration policies threaten their futures. I’ll keep fighting for permanent protections for our Dreamers.
American voters are fed up with divisive political content that too often is designed to inflame discourse and misrepresent opposition. Deceptive AI-generated ads that use politicians' likenesses will only further erode trust in our democratic process, and they must be banned. (1/2)
A political opponent recently posted a deepfake video of me on social media. It was generated using AI and fabricated my voice and image to put words in my mouth. While it represents a new - and dangerous - low, it was not unpredictable. (1/2)
NEWS: Rep. Becca Balint Responds to Deepfake Video Published on Social Media, Calls for Legislative Action

Rep. Balint Statement on Deepfake Video

“This ad is offensive and a dangerous example of what happens when AI is used to deceive voters. Fabricating my voice and image to put words in my mouth is a new low. Free speech is a cornerstone of our democracy, but impersonation and deception are not. This was also predictable and exactly why I introduced the NO FAKES Act—to give people protections against unauthorized AI replicas of their voice and likeness and bring greater transparency and accountability to AI-generated content.”
The NO FAKES Act

Protects YOUR voice and visual likeness
Addresses the threat of digital replicas created without YOUR consent through AI
Empowers YOU to take action against bad actors who create, distribute, or profit from unauthorized digital replicas
Defends artists, creators, and anyone who uses the internet

Over the last few years, Prime Minister Netanyahu has recklessly prosecuted the war in Gaza, repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement, approved new settlements and tacitly supported settler violence in the West Bank, and advocated for the U.S. war against Iran. (2/3)
