I'm proud to reintroduce the Pregnant Women in Custody Act, which would strengthen maternal care for all women in federal facilities, including immigration detention. Proper pregnancy care is a human right, regardless of your immigration or incarceration status. (2/2)
I've been deeply disturbed by recent reporting about the lack of proper care for pregnant women in jails and ICE custody—stories of women being neglected, miscarrying after being denied care, and even being shackled. (1/2)
I support @agrobbonta’s review of the proposed Warner Bros.-Paramount merger. I’m concerned about what this proposed merger means for competition, independence for media outlets like CNN that would be owned by the Ellisons, and job cuts. (1/2)
Republicans launched a redistricting war when they stole five Congressional seats in Texas for Trump. Now, they're trying to strip us of fair representation in states like Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama after SCOTUS' decision in LA v. Callais. (1/2)
🚨BREAKING: In a 4-3 ruling, the Virginia Supreme Court has OVERTURNED the redistricting referendum approved by voters last month. The court ruled the General Assembly violated the Virginia Constitution in advancing the amendment, nullifying the referendum entirely.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎 To all the incredible educators across our nation: thank you for inspiring and shaping the next generation of leaders every day. Special shoutout to Claudia Hernandez-Lemus for being named @laschools.bsky.social’s 2026 Teacher of the Year! 👏
Trump ditching diplomatic expertise for MAGA sycophants is exactly how we got into the failing Iran war & decimated our credibility with allies. Now he’s doubling down on incompetence by firing 200 more career diplomats who ensure our national security—we must restore diplomacy.
Trump is attacking student borrowers. The Trump Administration has eliminated the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, making it harder for Americans to afford college. SAVE enrollees have until July 1 to change their repayment plans. Contact my office if you need help.
This is a big win in the fight against Trump's racist immigration policies. We must preserve and expand legal pathways for those who want to pursue better lives in the U.S. I'll keep fighting to ensure those who come here can thrive.
Mifepristone is health care, period. It must remain accessible for women across the country, no matter which state they live in. Proud to join @democrats-judiciary.house.gov & 250+ Congressional Democrats in filing an amicus brief to protect this vital reproductive care.
Trump literally said his ballroom would not cost taxpayers a penny. Why are Republicans champing at the bit to fund it?? Even if this money is for "security," it's $1 BILLION of your tax dollars that wouldn't have been spent if Trump didn't tear down the East Wing.
¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Today, we celebrate Mexican American strength, heritage, and pride—especially here in CA, where the first celebrations were held! Today and every day, we honor the Mexican American community's leadership and contributions that move this country forward.
Most Black Members of Congress, like me, are not from majority-Black districts. @cbc.house.gov works for ALL Americans to ensure a rising tide lifts all boats. While we fight back against SCOTUS' ruling that dilutes Black voting power, we'll keep representing the people.
I am relieved that tele-health and mail access to Mifepristone has been temporarily restored. But this is just the beginning. We must keep fighting to ensure Mifepristone remains a safe and an essential form of reproductive care, as it has been for 25 years.
This is a devastating blow to access to reproductive care. This ruling puts the policies of anti-abortion extremists over the FDA’s science-based regulations. We will appeal this rogue ruling. Mifepristone is safe and must remain accessible, as it has been for over 25 years.
