Elections should be decided by voters, not politicians rigging the game for Trump’s benefit. That’s why Prop 50 gives Californians the power to decide if we’ll push back, temporarily, and ensure fair representation across the country. I voted YES, and I hope you will too.

The Trump Administration is sending tens of BILLIONS of US taxpayer dollars to support Argentina but is not interested in spending a similar amount to make sure millions of Americans can keep their health care next year. That tells you everything.
“If there is a shutdown, I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the president of the United States. He’s the one that has to get people together.” - Donald Trump, 2011 on the Today Show

Mike Johnson said he doesn’t want to call Republicans back to DC during the shutdown because they’re doing “some of the most meaningful work” of their careers at home. What a total joke. Come back to DC and do your jobs.

Speaker Johnson has illegally and unconstitutionally refused to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva for more than a month, denying Arizona voters their right to representation in Congress. Her election is certified. His obstruction is partisan and indefensible.

Mike Johnson is letting the House stay home while the government is shut down. Here’s the kicker: Members of Congress will still be paid on Nov. 1 unless they personally ask not to. I’ve done that. But our staff won’t get a dime. What kind of boss pays him or herself while their team goes unpaid?

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” -FDR Remember this when you talk about SNAP and WIC losing funding on Nov. 1. And remind Trump and his enablers.

Cheap energy is clean energy. That’s why I’ve worked with my friend Sean Casten to develop the Cheap Energy Agenda and finally bring relief to working families burdened by high energy costs.
I’m back in D.C. again this week ready to work to reopen government and protect health care for millions of Americans. But for the fifth week in a row, Mike Johnson still has House Republicans out of town on vacation. It’s an absolute disgrace.
The Trump administration is refusing to tap the contingency funds Congress set aside to keep SNAP running. Over 40 million Americans could lose food assistance starting Nov 1. This is not a policy debate, it’s a moral failure—and I support California’s lawsuit to stop it.

Millions of Americans are about to go hungry as food aid runs dry on Nov. 1, but Trump isn’t focused on ending the shutdown. Instead, he’s obsessed with building a $300 million gilded ballroom funded by his billionaire friends. While families struggle to eat, he’s polishing the gold.

It’s been 38 days since the House last held a vote. No appropriations bills. No committee work. No progress. Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to even swear in duly elected Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva.  Enough excuses. Bring the House back to work and do your job.

Don’t forget this Yale & Penn study finding Republicans would cause 51,000 preventable DEATHS every year by gutting healthcare and food aid. Democrats have been fighting to stop this from the beginning, and we won’t back down.
