When wildfires and disasters hit Northern California, 9-1-1 has failed people when they needed help most. That is unacceptable.
I am leading legislation to strengthen emergency communications and protect public safety.

We must use every lever at our disposal to prevent the Trump administration from exercising power unilaterally and circumventing our Constitution. [2/2]
I want to be clear: I am a definitive “NO” on any additional DHS and ICE funding while this administration continues to abuse its power, terrorize our neighborhoods, and deny people their constitutional right to due process. [1/2]
Dr. King challenged leaders and our country transformed for the better. In Sacramento, we know marching for MLK is not symbolic. It’s how we continue his legacy and protect the future we believe in.
We march because Dr. King understood that justice is never handed down. It is demanded. He organized, protested, and disrupted the status quo.
I am very thankful I was invited to join Pastor Les Simmons at South Sacramento Christian Center for a beautiful service today. The work SSCC does for our community is irreplaceable.
I look forward to continuing our transformative work for Sacramento together.
In a time when division and fear are too often used to pull us apart, this community continues to choose compassion and service.
That is how we honor Dr. King’s legacy.
Thank you to the National Action Network, my colleagues on the Elk Grove City Council, and everyone who attended the Elk Grove MLK Breakfast.
I joined my colleagues in demanding an investigation into Trump’s latest grift, Trump Mobile. Using the White House to mislead consumers cannot and will not be tolerated.
Kristi Noem must be held accountable for abuses at DHS. My Democratic colleagues and I are fully committed to seeing this impeachment effort through.
My conversation about it with ABC10 below ⬇️
I co-led a letter with over 100 of my colleagues demanding the Trump Administration reverse their sudden and catastrophic $2 billion cut to federal addiction and mental health care programs.
It worked, and those cuts have been reversed. We must keep up the pressure. Lives are at stake.
Trump still won’t accept accountability for his own failures or the deadly ICE killing of Renee Nicole Good. Instead, he threatens scorched-earth retaliation against dissent. Minnesota needs ICE out and a real independent investigation, not more White House threats.
The American Immigration Council reported a 2,450% increase in people detained by ICE with NO criminal record.
They aren’t after criminals—they’re after anyone who doesn’t fit their racist definition of an American.
Accountability is coming.
Addiction and mental health programs are a vital resource in Sacramento, and across the country. They grant people a second chance, and a path to a healthy future. Donald Trump just took a chainsaw to $2 billion worth of healing and hope.
This administration’s choices will get people killed.
FCC Chairman Carr thinks our local news outlets should be investigated for informing the public about ICE raids in their cities.
This is why my Broadcast Freedom and Independence Act must be passed.
We need an independent FCC that respects and honors the First Amendment. Carr clearly doesn’t.
I am joining my colleagues in introducing articles of impeachment to remove DHS Secretary Noem. She’s spearheading a lawless and incompetent campaign of cruelty in our cities, blatantly violating the Constitution, & allowing the senseless killing of our neighbors.
Enough is enough. She needs to go.
The Trump Administration’s attacks on transgender kids are cruel. No child should be treated as a political target.
Every student deserves safety, dignity, and respect. And every parent deserves the freedom to support their child without government interference.

Congress cannot be locked out. We will uncover and expose the truth, and there will be consequences. [2/2]
Instead of resigning due to her own gross incompetence, Secretary Noem is openly circumventing the law and concealing human rights abuses to shield herself—and those who acted unlawfully under her watch—from accountability. She is mistaken if she thinks that will work. [1/2]
Secretary Noem is sending more federal agents to Minneapolis to scare and intimidate a grieving city. Instead of accountability, she’s doubling down on cruelty. Her priority should be her resignation. Get ICE out of our cities.
