Keeping America secure is serious work. It requires expertise, judgment, and a firm commitment to the Constitution. It is not a political prop to be leveraged. FISA can be a critical tool against foreign adversaries, but when abused, it violates both privacy and constitutional rights. 🧵
Today, I met with the California Association of Home Builders to hear directly about the challenges of building in Sacramento. I’ll keep working to make it easier to permit and deliver more homes, bring down costs, and advance solutions that help more families achieve the dream of homeownership.
Trump says he “loves inflation.” Sacramentans do not.   My constituents are paying more for rent, utilities, and groceries because of Trump's tariffs and war with Iran.    But this is exactly what Trump’s economy is meant to deliver, higher costs for hard-working families already stretched too thin.
Reporter: Are you concerned, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number which came out this morning? Trump: No, I love it. I love the inflation.
I’ll always fight to expand economic opportunity and ensure that all workers, regardless of gender, are treated with dignity and fairly compensated. Honoring the past. Fighting for the future. #equalpayact
Today marks 63 years since the Equal Pay Act was signed into law by President Kennedy, marking a historic milestone in the fight for workplace equality. As we celebrate progress, we must recognize that the work is not done.
That is why I have always fought to strengthen warrant requirements under FISA and build real safeguards against bad actors, whether inside government or at powerful surveillance companies like Palantir.
Bill Pulte is not only unqualified to serve as Director of National Intelligence, but his actions in his current role also raise serious questions that demand investigation. Reports that he used federal home loan data to target people Donald Trump dislikes are deeply alarming. 🧵
Trump's fixation on conspiracy theories, illegal tariffs, and an unauthorized war has sent the cost of living soaring. The financial hardship Americans are experiencing is the result of the whims of a man incapable of accepting reality and Republicans unwilling to stand up to him.
Congress needs to do the work of developing AI policy that supports innovation and protects people. But I have concerns that the Obernolte/Trahan draft goes too far in preempting states from responding to fast-moving AI harms.
In Sacramento and across the country, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and all those fighting for equality. As a proud member of the Equality Caucus, I will always fight to expand people's rights, build more inclusive communities, and protect the freedom of every person to live and love openly.
I think about my neighbors being crushed by rising costs. I think about our service members being put in harm’s way and their families here at home. That’s why I have voted yes on every war powers resolution brought forward.
The people of Elk Grove care deeply about their community and aren't afraid to speak up about what they expect from their leaders. From lowering costs and protecting healthcare to strengthening our local economy, these conversations help shape the work ahead.
Thank you to my dear friend Elk Grove Councilmember Rod Brewer for bringing together community members for a great conversation about the issues that matter most to Elk Grove families. I always leave these discussions energized. 🧵
Community is not something reserved for a few. It is something we build together, in real time. We build it when we show grace to one another, and we build it when we choose compassion and conviction over fear and division.
Thank you Pastor Sadler and Shiloh Baptist Church for welcoming me and allowing me to spend another Sunday with you. Through moments of hardship and injustice, this church has endured because people here held onto their faith and held onto one another. 🧵
