As a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I am monitoring news of the latest killing of a protestor by federal agents in Minneapolis. Three things are immediately clear: (1/4)
Behind every service member are loved ones who provide support. Today, I met with local Blue Star families to discuss the unique challenges military families face.
Thank you Blue Star Families for the visit.
Congratulations to the Rhode Island chefs and restaurants nominated for this year’s James Beard Awards!
Just more proof that the Rhode Island culinary scene is unmatched.🍴
Severe cold is forecasted this weekend, with wind chills as low as 15 below zero expected.
Plan ahead, stay safe, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
RI warming centers are available here: riema.ri.gov/warming-cent...
⚠️❄️ There is a Winter Storm Watch in effect for Southern New England from Sunday morning through Monday evening. Expect heavy snowfall, slick roads, and dangerous travel. Plan ahead and follow NWS Boston for updates.
Congress is about to vote on a Homeland Security funding bill.
Here is why I am voting no.
$800,000 is coming to Warwick to help the Warwick Police Department purchase new portable radios and police scanners.
This funding we secured in annual government funding legislation will improve emergency response and help make Warwick safer.
Trump continues to send ICE to attack innocent people - including US citizens - with excessive force.
I am joining @ramirez.house.gov to introduce the DHS Use of Force Oversight Act & apply the oversight & de-escalation standards that *every other law enforcement agency follows.*
Tonight I hosted a telephone town hall to hear directly from Rhode Islanders about what matters most. It is clear RIers want me to focus on lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, and standing up to political extremism.
Thanks to the more than 9,000 constituents who joined.
If a regular police officer anywhere in the country sprayed tear gas into a moving vehicle with a 1 year old, they’d be fired.
But in Trump’s Dept of Homeland Security, there are no guardrails and no accountability. Instead of enforcing the law, they’re making American families less safe.
Good news for Westerly: Federal funding is headed to the town to reline aging sewer lines which will reduce stormwater strain on the treatment plant and improve water quality in the Pawcatuck River.
This is smart infrastructure that protects the environment and local residents.
Today we cut the ribbon on the new Pawtucket Central Falls Transit Center with real time rider info, staffed customer service, and more comfortable spaces for passengers. I will continue to fight for more federal funding for transformative projects like this.
There is a lot going on in the country today. I am hosting a telephone town hall TOMORROW to hear from you. Call the number below during the event or fill out this form to receive a call from us.

I was honored to join the MLK State Holiday Observance at Ebenezer Baptist Church today.
In a time marked by fear and chaos, Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy reminds us that hope is possible when we stand together with courage, compassion, and action.
Dr. King said, “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve.”
Today I was proud to join ServeRI and @AmeriCorps for the MLK National Day of Service and put Martin Luther King Jr.’s call to give back into action.
Supporting the next generation of leaders is one of the most powerful ways to carry forward Martin Luther King Jr.’s work.
Honored to join the Minister’s Alliance MLK Scholarship Breakfast in Cranston to celebrate his legacy & challenge young leaders to keep pushing for justice.
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We are reminded every day that injustice still exists and that our nation continues to fall short of being a “more perfect union.”
But guided by his legacy, we endure, and keep working to deliver equality.
My team works hard to cut through red tape and deliver results for Rhode Islanders when it matters most. Like Scott in Warwick, who our office helped in resolving a delayed IRS tax refund.
We are here to help, give us a call at (401) 244-1201!
Cranston has dealt with flooding for years. Recently, the House and Senate approved my earmark to fund upgrades in the Garden Street area, to prevent flooding.
This is a step toward making RI infrastructure more resilient.
