Most of the critical minerals that we need for cell phones, medical devices, laptops, & more are found in developing world countries.
Yet another reason why Trump & Musk’s cruel dismantling of USAID is just plain stupid.
Watch my @naturalresources.bsky.social hearing remarks: youtu.be/Akzgwu2lAYc
Just wrapped up emergency meeting with RI environmental leaders in response to Trump & Musk illegally cutting off funding.
They are waging a war on affordable clean energy, threatening local jobs, the environment, and the planet's future—but we’re fighting back.
As a member of @naturalresources.bsky.social, I am committed to restoring funding for these vital programs.
This also impacts nonprofits the state relies on to do the work - like Capital Good Fund, West Bay, CCAP, and Tri-County Community Action, among others.
This could mean higher energy costs, a dirtier an environment and fewer jobs for RIers.
The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources still can’t access more than $125 million of funding because of Trump/Musk.
Funding for conservation, solar, energy efficiency, and more is all impacted.
🚨I am hearing from community health centers all across Rhode Island that their federal funding has been cut off today.
This is the day after Elon’s team gained access to the federal health payment system.
Dangerous and totally unacceptable.
My amendments to protect addiction treatment funding from being cut & to stop American guns from arming cartels were BLOCKED by House R’s.
Disappointing. Beating fentanyl takes putting partisan politics aside.

Global health threats don’t stop at borders—we need cooperation to stop disease before it spreads.
Pulling out of the WHO puts American lives at risk.
We’re calling to have this reckless move reversed immediately.
ICYMI: On Monday, I held an AMA on Instagram discussing the disruptions Trump and Musk have brought to the government—and how we’re working to hold them accountable.

Trump, Musk, and Republicans are deleting all mentions of transgender from government websites, research, and data.
But they cannot delete transgender people from the world.
To our trans friends: we see you, we support you, and we will stand up for you.
Yesterday, we tried to get into the US Treasury to find out what Elon Musk is doing with the people’s money and data.
We were locked out, but this is just the beginning.
The people deserve transparency and oversight.

Today, I visited the National Counterterrorism Center to learn about the center’s critical work to keep Americans safe.
Yesterday, President Trump nominated a far-right extremist, Joe Kent, to lead the NCTC.
Read my joint statement with @benniethompson.bsky.social below.
This week the House is voting on a bill aimed at halting the flow of fentanyl. Good.
I am introducing amendments to ensure that grants for addiction treatment are not frozen by Trump/Musk and to make it harder for cartels to get their hands on American-made guns.
Hundreds of Rhode Islanders are calling my office outraged that Elon Musk has gained access to the U.S. Treasury’s payment system—putting their privacy and sensitive data at risk.
This is unprecedented and dangerous. My statement is below.
Executive Order 14087 directed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop new models to lower prescription drug costs and expand access to treatments.
President Trump’s decided to rescind the program — I’m joining dozens of House colleagues push him to reconsider.
Just finished a quick “Ask Me Anything” on Instagram about some of the chaos Trump and Musk have brought to government and we’ll do about it.

A secure nation depends on a strong workforce. This morning at Electric Boat’s annual update, we received an overview of the incredible work being done by Rhode Islanders who are building the world’s most advanced submarines and keeping our country safe.
Donald Trump threw the country into chaos this week. People have a lot of questions.
Time for us to do another “Ask Me Anything” on Instagram.
Submit your Qs now. I’ll answer the first 10 tomorrow morning.
During #BlackHistoryMonth, we recognize the many incredible voices and stories of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.
This month and every month, let us honor their place in and contributions to the shared story of America.
For 50 years, the Earned Income Tax Credit has lifted millions of people out of poverty and strengthened our economy.
As we celebrate this milestone, let’s commit expanding the EITC as part of the next tax bill.
