3/ My colleagues and I will keep working to restore this critical care, because government should be making life easier to afford and ensuring you have access to the care you need—not gutting care infrastructure to give tax breaks to billionaires.
2/ Congressional Republicans have done absolutely nothing to help ensure our neighbors have access affordable health care and instead have delivered the largest evisceration of health care in modern history.
1/ 16 years ago today, the Affordable Care Act became the law of the land. However, in the last year alone, over 1 million Americans have lost access to their health care and millions more are facing a loss in coverage due to skyrocketing costs.

It was a delight to chat with Rabbi Beals from Temple Beth El in Newark and the American Jewish World Service delegation this week, and to hear about their important work delivering humanitarian aid to communities in Haiti and across Africa.

2/ In Delaware, we know that paid leave strengthens families while supporting employers, especially our small businesses. This conversation was a timely reminder that we still have work to do to ensure families across the country have access to the care they require.

1/ I was honored to connect with members of Main Street Speaks where I heard from leaders and small business owners about the urgent need for Congress to find solutions for caregiving gaps across the nation.

The Yarn Maven in historic downtown Smyrna started as a yarn shop and has become a true community space where neighbors learn new skills and build connections. Innovative and unique small businesses like this sustain our downtowns and strengthen the fabric of Delaware—literally and figuratively.

I enjoyed talking with the Delaware League of Local Governments who came down to DC this week to discuss how Congress can support our local partners in lowering costs, modernizing infrastructure, and addressing growing challenges in our communities.

I enjoyed my recent visit to Atlantic Apothecary—where Pharmacist Kevin Musto and his team provide personalized care you simply can’t get from a big chain—and are clear examples of how small wonders can truly deliver innovative results. Work like theirs means stronger, healthier Delaware families.

No matter your political affiliation, decency matters. To celebrate the death of a veteran and public servant is unconscionable for anyone, let alone the President. I am thinking of Robert Mueller’s family today as they grieve his passing and honor his memory.
Trump: “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
I was proud to connect with members of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed and Choose Clean Water Coalition because clean water—whether for drinking, recreation, or farming—is essential for the health and economic well-being of my neighbors.

In downtown Smyrna, I visited Elizabeth Esther Cafe at Cobalt Manor—a family home, once condemned and newly restored and turned into a thriving small business, infusing a family’s property with new purpose.

I was grateful for the opportunity to meet with the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL)’s Gilliam Fellows—alongside the MWUL’s Advocacy Manager and Wilmington City Councilman Coby Owens, these fellows are advocating for our neighbors in big ways and they are making Delaware proud.

1/ As costs are rising, our farmers are bearing the brunt of those prices. Recently, I brought together farmers, ag leaders, students, and local elected officials for a first-of-its-kind Agricultural Summit in Harrington to address the needs facing Delaware’s ag industry.

1/ TSA agents are working without pay because Congressional Republicans refuse to take action and rein in ICE and their cruelty. Last night, I signed a discharge petition to force a vote on a bill to pay TSA agents, FEMA, and the Coast Guard—reopening every part of DHS except ICE.
Today, the House Foreign Affairs Committee met for the second time since the president launched his war of choice in Iran. So, I had to ask: how on earth have we not had a hearing on this illegal war yet?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Delaware! As you celebrate today, don’t forget to support local small businesses like Sheridan’s Irish Pub in Smyrna—where I learned how to properly pour a Guinness! ☘️
