DHS has stopped issuing work permits to asylum-seekers until it works through a backlog, which “may take between 14 and 173 years." (Seriously.) Why not use a fraction of their massive budget to hire more asylum officers? Because they want to make it impossible for asylum-seekers to live here.
So refreshing to hear my friend, Gov. Spanberger, lay out a clear-eyed case for why we're headed in the wrong direction—and how we turn it around. Americans are sick of the incompetence, corruption, and cruelty. They want a government that *works.*   Kudos to the Governor on her inspiring response.
Hearing from so many people who are doing such incredible work in their communities—helping their neighbors, pushing back against this lawless Administration—was deeply inspiring. Huge thanks to Jenny Beverly for being my guest, and to everyone who braved the cold to make their voices heard.
From left to right: The Jolly Ginger interviews Jenny Beverly, guest of Congresswoman Chellie Pingree for the People's State of the Union.
While Trump was filling the House chamber with more lies, delusions, and self-praise, I spent the night listening to my fellow Democrats (and their amazing guests) at the People’s State of the Union outside the Capitol. The anger and frustration were palpable. But so were the hope and optimism.
Democratic members of Congress on stage at the People's State of the Union on February 24, 2026.
My guest for tonight’s "People’s State of the Union" is Jenny Beverly, an immigration lawyer who’s helping Mainers navigate some awful circumstances. Families torn apart. Legal residents picked up based solely on their skin color. Jenny's seen it all. And she’s working hard to make a difference.
Yes, ICE got $170 BILLION in the Big Ugly Bill. But a huge part of the Admin's deportation strategy is to pull the rug out from those who are here lawfully—so they can be sent to some hellhole detention center (and out of the country). It's not about “law enforcement.” It’s about breaking people.
The DOJ is hiding materials from the Epstein files that implicate Trump—including testimony that he sexually abused a minor. Remember: Both the House and Senate unanimously passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, requiring the DOJ release *all* the unreacted files. This cover-up is disgusting.
Trump's fixation on taking over Greenland is absurd, and his latest social media post about sending a US hospital ship there is just batshit. They don't need our "help." THEY have universal health care. Maybe he should focus on fixing our broken health care system instead
My guest (more info to come!) will shine a light on the impact the recent ICE surge had on our communities in Maine. While Trump paints a fantasy, we’ll be telling the real story of what is happening in his America.
Instead, I’ll be participating in the People’s State of the Union, which will provide a platform to everyday Americans who are actually living with the consequences of Trump’s chaos, cruelty, and corruption.
Congress is a coequal branch of government. Not a sycophant forum. I refuse to sit in the House Chamber for 2 hours while he lies to the American people, disrespects Congress, and pretends everything is fine while his administration terrorizes our communities.
“Catch of the Day” might be over, but the devastation caused by ICE—families separated, lives destroyed, children traumatized—is unforgivable. People are tired of seeing this out-of-control DHS wreak havoc on our communities. Democrats will do everything we can to hold them accountable. #AbolishICE
📢US Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME 1) @pingree.house.gov decries ICE's assault on Mainers‼️ 🔊Listen to the @msignorile.bsky.social Show LIVE weekdays 3pm-6pm ET and On Demand at Signorile.com
Outside the facility, community members are stepping in where the federal government has failed, showing up with food, jackets and basic care for their neighbors. They shouldn’t have to. DHS's reckless policies are making our already broken immigration system worse—and destroying countless lives.
I was in Burlington, MA today for an oversight visit of the ICE field office, following some concerning reports about the conditions there. We've heard some people were released with no way to get home, without adequate clothing, and without personal effects or vital documents. That's unacceptable.
It's now crystal clear that the Administration cares more about Big Chemical profits than the health of Americans. The batshit crazy EO Trump signed last night says the production of glyphosate is "critical" for national security. BULLSHIT. This is outrageous. How the hell is this MAHA?!?
Instead of protecting the public, Republicans want to give them and other chemical giants the green light to continue poisoning people without being held accountable. This is not how you “Make America Healthy Again.” I’ll be fighting to get this language OUT of the Farm Bill.
