What is the president doing mere hours before the government shuts down?
Calling @housedemocrats.bsky.social “woke pieces of shit” and using AI to post racist content of @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social.
Disgusting, vile behavior — even by Trump’s standards.
REMINDER: Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House.
If the government shuts down tomorrow night, it’s entirely on their inability to govern and their refusal to negotiate.
Mainers cannot afford the health care crisis they have created.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social have made clear that we support government funding legislation that cancels the cuts, lowers the cost, and saves health care for the American people.
We will not rubberstamp Republicans’ partisan spending bill that causes health care premiums to soar.
"The affordable health care coverage I have through the marketplace is the only reason I've been able to feed myself, pay my bills and still see all the specialists I need to help me recover [from COVID]."
"I don't know how Im going to afford a nearly 5% jump in the cost of healthcare. It feels impossible and overwhelming."
"This on top of rising costs for... well everything...is making it harder for us to ensure that we can take care of our family's needs."
"This will place our insurance premiums as the largest single monthly expense for my family, even more than our monthly mortgage payment."
I asked Mainers to share how losing ACA tax credits would affect them.
The responses I got are devastating: premiums becoming more than mortgages, seniors falling into debt, families forced to choose between health care and basic needs.
This is the human cost of Republicans’ health care crisis.

I'll be joining Democratic Women's Caucus Chair @fernandez.house.gov LIVE TONIGHT at 8 p.m. to answer your questions about the looming government shutdown and how Republicans got us in this mess.

Republicans blocked my amendment to strike this dangerous rider, and I spoke with Spotlight on America about why we must strip it from the final bill.

Toxic PFAS sludge is being spread on farmland, contaminating our food and water. EPA was set to take action, but a rider slipped into the Interior funding bill would stop that work cold.

No one is above the law—but when prosecutions appear driven by political score-settling, public trust in our justice system erodes.
The American people deserve accountability *and* assurance that this process is fair, impartial, and rooted in facts, not vendettas.
For Interior to parrot this kind of unhinged political rhetoric as justification for erasing its own educational materials is truly appalling.
As the top Democrat on the subcommittee that oversees Interior + NPS, I'm fighting to #SaveOurSigns.
Our parks—and its millions of visitors—deserve better.
When pressed about the idiotic decisions this Administration makes—like removing fact-based information from our National Parks—their default justification is “brainless fear-mongering rhetoric."
Climate change? Not real.
Indigenous heritage? Woke.
Slavery? Not that bad 🤷♀
Give me a break.
Now, Russ Vought is threatening mass layoffs (NOT furloughs).
He said these layoffs could be avoided only if Democrats support the bill.
This isn't governance. It’s extortion.
Democrats will not be bullied into supporting a bill that drives up health care costs for millions of Americans. (2/2)
Let’s lay out the facts. Republicans:
🔴 Control the White House
🔴 Have majorities in the House + Senate
🔴 Tried to pass a terrible stopgap that hurts families
🔴 Failed in the Senate
🔴 Refuse to negotiate
And they want to blame Democrats for any potential shutdown?
They can't be serious. (1/2)
Why the Administration would choose to lapse this funding is beyond comprehension.
This will make our communities less safe, less responsive, and force organizations like Preble Street to cut back on other services.
I will do all I can to ensure the Administration releases these vital funds.
I’m deeply alarmed to hear that Preble Street could be denied funding to support victims of human trafficking.
These grants have provided critical resources to hundreds of survivors across Maine—from emergency housing and mental health services to job training.
They've literally saved lives.
