61 years ago, the Voting Rights Act became law. But today, Trump & Republicans are gutting the VRA, emboldening white supremacy, & disenfranchising millions of people. Congress must pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to protect our democracy and the sacred right to vote.
The termination of TPS for Haiti is devastating and cruel. To our TPS holders in the #MA7 and beyond, your humanity, dignity, and lives matter. And I'll do everything in my power to support you and your families. My full statement:
Rep. Pressley Denounces Termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haiti & Syria:

“The termination of Temporary Protected Status for our Haitian and Syrian neighbors will devastate our communities, bulldoze our economy, traumatize our children, and separate families who call this country home.

“The occupant of the Oval Office has decided he gets to act as judge, jury, and executioner to hundreds of thousands of innocent people who have done nothing but seek refuge, strengthen our communities, and bolster our economy.

“TPS is not only an essential lifeline for those who had to flee countries in crisis, but also for Americans. Businesses will be forced to close from losing their staff and our local economies will suffer. (1/2)
“Seniors and their families will lose their caregivers as we face a caregiving crisis. Children will lose their classmates and their friends. America will lose the talent, skills, and culture that our immigrant neighbors contribute every day.

“That’s why the Senate must immediately pass our legislation to save lives and extend TPS for Haiti, which passed out of the House earlier this year.

“To our many TPS holders in the Massachusetts 7th and throughout the country from Haiti, Syria, Venezuela, Honduras, and other nations—your worth is not defined by the cruelty of this White House or Supreme Court. Your humanity, your dignity, and your lives matter. This nation is better because of you, and I will do everything in my power to support you and your families.” (2/2)
Breaking news: A federal judge took the final step in allowing the Trump administration to terminate temporary protected status for 350,000 Haitians, meaning many are likely to lose their jobs and be at risk of deportation.
Our Head Start programs are impactful & life-changing for our babies. But Trump wants to eliminate this essential program, lower its quality standards, & deny our most vulnerable children a first-rate early education. Trump should keep his grubby little hands off Head Start.
An article by the Associated Press titled: Trump overhaul could gut Head Start preschool standards, leaving states to set the rules.
The data doesn't lie & our report makes it plain: fare-free transit is essential to building more connected communities, improving mobility, & making life more affordable. Congress must pass my Freedom to Move Act with @markey.senate.gov to support fare-free transit everywhere.
A graphic that reads:

NEWS: Pressley, Markey Release Report Showing Success of Fare-Free Transit in Massachusetts

Report calls for passage of their Freedom to Move Act, which invests $25 billion in public transit
From Worcester to the Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts knows what’s possible with fare-free transit. My new report with @pressley.house.gov shows that going fare free saves money, grows ridership & simplifies transit. We must pass the Freedom to Move Act so communities can go fare free.
The layered attacks on Black folks by Donald Trump has deepened the economic inequities facing Black communities. But the consequences reverberate far beyond us. This @naturbanleague.bsky.social report affirms what we know to be true: this harm is coming for everyone.
We must shut down Dilley and end the for-profit prison system that allows companies like CoreCivic to profit from mass incarceration and the abuse, neglect, & trauma of our immigrant neighbors. Close Dilley. Abolish ICE. Not one more cent to this campaign of terror.
Earlier this week, I conducted oversight of the Dilley ICE detention center. What every duly elected Member of Congress has a right to do, but the Trump Administration continues to obstruct. They’re trying to silence the harrowing testimonies coming from behind the walls of these detention camps.

I hear from constituents every day that housing is their first, second, & third priority. That’s why I’m proud to deliver $500K in federal funding to support Mattapan seniors' housing and their right to age with dignity. Everybody deserves a place to rest, dream, & call home.
I've been fighting to prevent the stealing of SNAP benefits for years & I'm thrilled to see Massachusetts lead the way. These first-of-its-kind EBT cards will make it safer & easier for folks to access their essential benefits to feed their families. TY Governor Healey for your leadership.
A MassLive article titled: Mass. becomes first state to launch chip-enabled EBT cards to combat benefit theft.
If you are outraged by the number of Black & low-income people that are incarcerated, the same for-profit system is driving the unlawful detainment & deportation of our immigrant neighbors. These are two sides of a very evil for-profit coin.
Families in the #MA7 are grappling with a housing & affordability crisis. That's why I'm proud to deliver $500K in federal funds to make the Brooke House Village Center in Mattapan a reality. This is an investment in healthy aging that will help our elders thrive with dignity.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley celebrates the $500,000 she delivered in federal community project funding for the construction of 2Life Communities’ Brooke House Village Center.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley listens to senior residents discuss how the construction of 2Life Communities’ Brooke House Village Center will help them thrive.

61 years ago, Medicare & Medicaid became law & have helped provide care for elders, disabled & low-income families. Yet Trump & Republicans gutted these vital programs to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. I'll never stop fighting to save healthcare & affirm it as a human right.
Trump & Republicans know their policies and cruelty are deeply unpopular. That's why they're doing everything they can to suppress the vote and rig this year's midterm election. We must push back and defend our democracy using every tool available.
BREAKING: The Trump administration urges the Supreme Court to allow an order targeting mail-in voting to proceed for now, before the midterms.
What is happening inside the Dilley ICE detention center is state-inflicted trauma. Babies & toddlers caged for weeks. Children developing suicidal ideation. Families being fed expired food & denied medical care. We must close Dilley immediately & free our children.
