Wishing everyone celebrating in the MA-07 & around the world a Merry Christmas full of rest, joy, happiness, and priceless memories with loved ones.
Families & survivors of homicide victims deserve our unwavering recognition.
My resolution with @markey.senate.gov to establish National Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month sends a powerful signal to survivors that we see them & we won't stop fighting to address gun violence.

NEW: @reppressley.bsky.social praises Biden's death-row commutations, urges more clemency moves before Trump takes office www.wgbh.org/news/politic... #mapoli #bospoli @gbhnews.bsky.social
There is no action more powerful or righteous than sparing someone’s life, and today President Biden is doing just that.
My full statement on his historic death penalty clemency action:
I voted to keep the government funded & avert a Musk-Trump shutdown that would have harmed everyone, especially our most vulnerable.
But it's a shame it even got to this point & that Republicans continue to operate with chaos, cruelty, & callousness.
The people deserve better.
Thanks to Musk and Trump, Republicans are about to shut down the government and harm our most vulnerable.
The people deserve better.

Victims of police brutality deserve tailored support to start on their road to healing. @reppressley.bsky.social and I wrote to the Office for Victims of Crime to request that these victims and their families get access to much-needed resources.
The headlines may have faded, but the pain felt by survivors of police violence remains.
That's why @markey.senate.gov and I are urging the Office for Victims of Crime to ensure victims of police brutality can access the resources they need to heal.

It was so great to be in community at the Neighborhood Villages Winter Wonderfest in Dorchester.
TY Principal Sanchez for hosting and to the Neighborhood Villages team for their partnership in building a more equitable early education system in the #MA7 and beyond.
It's been over a century & we're still fighting for constitutional gender equality.
With a hostile administration on its way to strip away our freedoms, Rep. Bush & I are doing everything we can to enshrine the ERA as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution.

President Biden took historic action this week, and he must keep using his clemency power to change and save lives.
This is the right thing to do and it is a matter of legacy.

“There are so many people with contributions to make, and they’re not being afforded the opportunity” @ayannapressley.bsky.social draws personal inspiration as she urges President Biden to commute more sentences.

Congresswomen organizers Ayanna Pressley and Cori Bush, along with colleagues and Witness to Innocence Director Herman Lindsey and Sujaa Graham, urges President Biden to exercise his clemency authority to commute the death sentences of the 40 individuals on federal deathrow.

“State-sanctioned murder is not justice, and the death penalty is a cruel, racist and fundamentally flawed punishment that has no place in our society,” said U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass), who also cited her Christian faith while making the case against the death penalty.
We have a moral responsibility to stand against injustice.
And there is no greater injustice in our legal system than the death penalty.
Proud to convene grassroots advocates & impacted families for a briefing on our push for President Joe Biden to commute & re-sentence those on death row.

Multiple groups have now urged President Biden to spare the people on federal death row before Trump returns to power. Today, @reppressley.bsky.social & @coribush.bsky.social held a press conference to keep the pressure up. theappeal.org/biden-federa...
Thanks to President Biden’s historic clemency announcement, 1,500 families will have their lives changed forever.
My full statement:
State-sanctioned murder is not justice.
And President Biden should use his power to save lives & make good on his campaign promise to address the federal death penalty.
He must commute the sentences of the 40 people on death row before his term ends.
www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
President Biden has the authority to commute the sentences of the 40 people on death row and re-sentence them to a prison term — and he can do it right now.
He must use that power before leaving office.
This is about saving lives and addressing the injustices of our legal system.
