On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews and millions of others killed during the Holocaust. Let the memory of those who were murdered serve as our calling to combat antisemitism and hate.
Will DOGE reject funding for the Defense Secretary’s new state-of-the-art makeup studio? Or will they protect the Fox Newsification of our government while Trump ravages the great programmatic achievements of democracy, like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid?
Trump’s Justice Department ordered armed agents to intimidate a witness set to testify before our bicameral hearing. These thuggish tactics are intolerable—and we’re demanding answers.
Sens. Schiff and Booker, along with Rep. Raskin, are demanding answers from DOJ over its reported attempt to block ex-pardon attorney Liz Oyer from participating in an oversight hearing. "This thuggish act is an escalation of this Administration's attacks on career officials" across the DOJ.
House GOP leaders are telling the rank-and-file not to spill the beans about their plans to slash Medicaid. MAGA Republicans are constantly scrambling to deny their actual plans because we Americans reject their top-down warfare on the working-class majority.
Sending best wishes to my esteemed friend @durbin.senate.gov. He’s a constitutional patriot and a stalwart in the fight to defend strong democracy and freedom. We’ll keep working together in the 119th Congress and beyond.
The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy. I truly love the job of being a United States Senator. But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch. So, I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my term.
Pope Francis led with humility, solidarity & gentleness, but he was an undaunted champion of the global poor, human rights, climate action & peace on earth. The world has lost a great faith leader & the vicious sniping of right-wing misanthropes only increases his moral power.
Thanks to Elon Musk and his nighttime crew of computer hackers and misanthropes at DOGE, the door is closing on chances for countless young adults with disabilities to live with dignity and self-sufficiency. We must stop this fanatical destruction of opportunity for young people with disabilities.
NEWS: SCOTUS has at least temporarily blocked Trump’s asserted power to disappear people to a dictator’s torture prison without a hearing. This order is a critical stand for restoring due process and the rule of law.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court has blocked the Trump administration from deporting foreign nationals under the Alien Enemies Act. Thomas, Alito dissent.
Trump’s war on higher ed and public schools has expanded to an exciting new front: pre-K! Elon Musk and DOGE are shutting down a preschool near you. The richest government contractor in the world will stop those 3-year olds from defrauding our people.
The times require that elected officials be not just representatives of our communities and states but organizers defending American constitutional democracy and leaders out of this lapse into authoritarian rule. Watch this clip from @podsaveamerica.crooked.com:
Mr. Trump—I’ve known Chris Van Hollen since the last century, and the last thing anyone who knows him would call him is a grandstander. He’s a defender of human rights. You should meet with him—you could learn something. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...
Trump’s fascist attack on Due Process has just prompted another eloquent and blistering takedown by a Reagan-nominated pillar of the conservative judicial establishment. Thank you, Judge Wilkinson, for showing what a real judge sounds like.
Beaming proud to say @lisaannwalter.bsky.social, comedienne and shining star of Abbott Elementary, grew up and got her acting chops right here in MoCo. This MD-08 Local Hero is a mainstay of screen and stage and an unflagging advocate for public education in America.
Grateful to my friend and MD colleague @ChrisVanHollen for traveling to El Salvador to try to check on Abrego Garcia’s condition. We will not let up the pressure on the self-proclaimed dictator of El Salvador or the aspiring dictator here. We will continue the fight to bring Abrego Garcia home.
