Trump’s State Department found no evidence linking Rumeysa Ozturk to antisemitic activity or terrorism, but ICE snatched her off the street and dispatched her to a prison 1,000 miles away with no hearing. This is a hallmark of fascist regimes and utterly incompatible with Due Process.
Sending my solidarity, prayers and support to @governor.pa.gov and his family, who endured a horrific arson attack on the first night of Passover. We must oppose and root out political violence in our country to protect democracy and freedom.
Sending my best to everyone celebrating Passover in Maryland's beautiful Eighth District and around the world. May your year be full of liberation from all the pharaohs. Peace and love. Chag Sameach!
Letting Reps with newborns vote remotely is pro-family, Speaker Johnson. Thank you, @pettersen.house.gov, for leading this movement, not just for you and your generation, but for Sam and his.
As a nurse manager for MoCo’s Babies Born Healthy Program, Angeline Bell is working every day to reduce the infant mortality rate. This National Public Health Week, we recognize this MD-08 Local Hero for her continuing contributions to our community.
If Trump gets away with destroying Due Process for Kilmar Garcia, he’ll think he can sweep anyone off the street and ship them to a prison in an authoritarian state to escape our Constitution. We must heed the Supreme Court and get him back.
The pro-democracy movement successfully defended the Social Security Administration against Elon Musk’s chainsaw and Donald Trump's plutocratic games. We will always stand in the breach for America’s seniors and people with disabilities.
Students attending DoD schools across the world just walked out of class in a brave protest against the Trump Administration's Orwellian censorship regime. Instead of removing books from the shelves about America’s history and constitutional values, Secretary Hegseth should try reading them.
Proud of my MD-08 Congressional App Challenge winners, Ayden Yeung of Wheaton High School and Julian Givens of Montgomery Blair High School, who shared their work at the House of Code event on the Hill today.
It’s a scary time. So feel the fear, metabolize the fear and transcend the fear by working with other people to act with courage and stand tall for democracy and freedom.
President Trump and Elon Musk’s mass firings threaten the Food and Drug Administration’s critical mission to protect our health and safety. We’re demanding a meeting with the Commissioner to get urgent answers.
This week, I hosted an IRS Information Session with the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service to answer some common tax questions, including questions about the filing process, tax credits and more. Watch:
Will Speaker Johnson engage in the colloquy debate that is at the heart of floor process in the House of Representatives? Can he actually defend the outrageous attacks taking place against Medicaid, Social Security and federal workers?
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries challenged Speaker Mike Johnson to a "one-on-one debate" on the House floor about Republicans' budget resolution.
Authoritarian regimes run on lies. They fear the truth and people who act defiantly to tell the truth. The four patriots who testified against this regime during our spotlight hearing exemplify courage.
The Trump Admin sent armed marshals in a mafia-style intimidation campaign to silence and intimidate a witness set to testify in my spotlight hearing with @schiff.senate.gov. Today, Liz Oyer appeared undaunted, standing for what is right, lawful and just, to give her testimony.
Elon is just one way the Trump Administration is selling out to China. Decimate American leadership in health innovation at HHS? Check. Slash funding for research and development? Check. Threaten to invade our allies and impose blanket tariffs? Check.
