Medicaid is the largest source of healthcare in NM, and the loss of federal matching dollars could mean the loss of coverage for thousands of families, decreased coverage and providers, and the closure of hospitals and clinics across our state.
Trump’s big abomination of a bill could cripple the Medicaid payment system in NM with the almost $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid funding nationwide.
Trump’s big abomination of a bill cuts Medicaid by almost $1 TRILLION.
More than 840,000 people in NM are on Medicaid. These cuts have the capacity to DEVASTATE our healthcare system and families all across the state.
This is cruelty thinly veiled as budget policy.
Friends, I’m on my way back to D.C. to vote a resounding HELL NO on Trump and the GOP’s big abomination of a bill.
While I travel back, I want to share some of the reasons I’m voting NO. This bill is bad for New Mexico and Americans all across the country.
While you were sleeping—Senate Republicans worked through the night cutting deals to buy votes on the floor.

While you slept: Senate Republicans were up all night scrambling to salvage their cruel budget—bribing their own members with carveouts to shield their states from the very Medicaid and SNAP cuts they’re forcing on everyone else.
Happy birthday to my sister from the North! @fernandez.house.gov is a fierce fighter for the people of New Mexico and I’m proud to be in this fight with her every day.
I hope you have the best day!
Sandia Labs are a backbone of our community in New Mexico.
More layoffs mean more New Mexicans and local economies suffering under the current Administration’s policies.
And, the ripple effects will only continue to reverberate.
The Trump Admin isn’t just gutting vital programs, attacking our institutions, and firing federal workers—it’s trying to remake America through an extreme ideological agenda.
Folks, this is Project 2025 in action. We must stand up for our communities, our freedoms, and the future of our democracy.
ONCE AGAIN in the dark of night—Republicans are trying to jam their Big Abomination of a Bill through Congress. This is what’s going on tonight after they jammed a motion to proceed through the Senate in a 51-49 vote. Obviously, I’ll be a very hell NO on this bill. ⬇️
While Senate Republicans and the White House are trying to cut dirty deals and jam their big abomination of a bill through the Senate Floor—I want to take a moment to thank the three heroines of the Supreme Court holding it down for our democracy and the rule of law every day! So grateful! ❤️
Senator Lee, under pressure from colleagues and the public (that’s all of you!) has officially removed his land sale provision from the big abomination of a bill.
Around midnight last night Senate Republicans dropped a NEW version of their Reconciliation bill with MORE cuts to Medicaid and many provisions that violate the rules and gut vital programs for Americans.
Their plan? Jam it through in the coming days regardless of what the American people think.
The hateful, xenophobic, and anti-Muslim attacks on Zohran Mamdani and our Muslim colleagues cannot go unanswered and must stop.
Anti-Muslim speech and its normalization undermines the safety, dignity, and rights of our communities and erodes our fundamental democratic values. We must reject hate.
It’s Friday—the Senate is a ghost town as Republicans face major parliamentary setbacks and the Supreme Court is at it again. Here’s what’s up. ⬇️
With wildfires burning across NM and the West – there is no doubt that we need more science, technology, tools, and boots on the ground to keep our firefighters safe and respond to increasing fires.
We must ensure they don’t cut funding for the life-saving tools, technology and staffing needed!
Wishing a peaceful and blessed Islamic New Year to all who celebrate. May this new year bring reflection, renewal, and hope. ❤️
Just moments ago, the conservative majority of SCOTUS handed down a ruling that would allow states to cut off Medicaid for reproductive care, while Congress is *actively* trying to pass a national ACA abortion ban in reconciliation.
This fight is now!
10 years ago today, love won! 🌈
The Obergefell ruling reaffirmed that marriage equality is a right!
To our LGBTQ+ community: We see you. We stand with you. And, we will always have your back. ❤️
