On this Giving Tuesday, I’m celebrating the generosity that defines West Michigan. Whether you’re supporting a local nonprofit, pitching in at a food drive, or lending a hand to a neighbor, every act of giving strengthens our community.
Thank you for all you do to lift one another up.
For the first time in 40 years a Michigan farm will supply the White House Christmas tree. Thanks to Korson’s Tree Farms & their amazing crews for bringing a piece of home to the People’s House for the holidays.

Happy birthday to Senator Gary Peters! I’m grateful for your steady leadership and your commitment to Michigan’s families, workers, and small businesses. Wishing you a wonderful day and a great year ahead.
Calling all young ornament makers: we’d love to display your homemade ornament in our D.C. office this holiday season!
Find more information on the flyer below, and call our Grand Rapids office with any questions at 616-451-8383. Happy decorating!
Small businesses are the heart of West Michigan.
On Small Business Saturday, I’m grateful for the makers and store owners who keep our communities strong. When you shop locally, you’re investing in your neighbors and the future of our region.
This weekend marks 50 years since West Michigan’s own President Gerald Ford signed the law that would become known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). For decades, this landmark law has opened doors for millions of students with disabilities.

What a way to start the day!
Honored to join the Grand Rapids Turkey Trot this morning and share a few thoughts before the race. West Michigan shows its heart in moments like these — neighbors coming together, families celebrating, and kids leading the way.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I’m grateful for those who serve our communities, and as we learn more about this tragic shooting, my heart remains with everyone harmed.

Happy Thanksgiving, West Michigan. Today I’m especially thankful for the strength, generosity, and resilience of our community — and for my family, who reminds me every day why this work matters.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful, and hope-filled holiday.
When our neighbors are in need, West Michigan always lends a helping hand. Grateful to see this year's Turkey Trot collecting food to support families across our community.

No one in West Michigan should go without a warm meal this Thanksgiving.
Grateful for the community partners stepping up to support our neighbors.
Here’s a list of free Thanksgiving meals across our region:

I am deeply worried and saddened by the bomb threat made against Sen. Elissa Slotkin’s home. Political violence has no place in America.
Our leaders must be safe so they can serve Michigan without fear. www.detroitnews.com/story/news/p...

Too many West Michigan families are being priced out of safe, stable housing. That’s why I teamed up with Rep. Bresnahan to introduce the Unlocking Affordable Housing Act, a bipartisan bill that makes it easier to build more homes and bring down costs.
I’m proud to cosponsor the Save Great Lakes Fish Act of 2025. This bill would dedicate $500 million to fight invasive mussels and safeguard the Great Lakes. For West Michigan, a healthy Lake Michigan means safer waters, stronger fisheries and a more resilient community.

It is concerning to see the President target public officials for simply doing their jobs. Reminding our troops to follow the law is not sedition, and it should never be treated that way. This is not how a healthy democracy operates, and I will keep focusing on what matters to West Michigan.
Breaking apart the Department of Education will not help our kids learn. It will make it harder for schools to get the resources they need.
I am committed to protecting students from decisions that put politics over their futures.

Last night the House voted to require the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Now the bill heads to President Trump’s desk. Survivors and the American people deserve the full truth and real accountability.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
