We don't have to do it this way. We can bring our tariffs into balance without throwing our economy — and American families and businesses — into turmoil. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/02/s...
🎉 Wishing a very Happy 175th Birthday to our very own Grand Rapids! www.fox17online.com/news/local-n...
I know West Michiganders are already concerned about the high cost of living, and this will do nothing but make it worse.
I support tariffs when they have an intention and purpose, and are specifically targeted to achieve those goals. But President Trump just announced a 10% across-the-board tariff on all imports, and a 25% tariff on cars coming into our country, for… no apparent reason. It’s harmful and chaotic.
I know West Michiganders are already concerned about the high cost of living, and this will do nothing but make it worse.
Speaker Mike Johnson cancelled votes for the rest of the week rather than vote on a pro-family measure to support parents in Congress.
House Republican leadership just showed us their true colors. That is not the so-called “party of family values.”
This isn’t an April Fools’ joke: House Republicans are trying to pass the SAVE Act, a bill that would disenfranchise millions of women, military voters, Native Americans, and rural communities.
Today, I stood alongside @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues to push back against the disastrous bill.
Thank you to our first responders helping to get Michiganders across the state back to normal after this weekend's storms. My team will continue to monitor the situation and its impact on MI-03.

As a member of @equality.house.gov, I’m working toward a future where trans people are always free to live openly and authentically.

This week, I sat on a panel with Leader Jeffries and other members of Congress to hear from leaders in the tech world about how we can continue working together to keep our nation on the cutting edge.
While on a Congressional Delegation trip last week, I was able to meet two Michiganders stationed abroad and thank them for their service. We are the home of the free because of the brave.
To everyone marking the end of Ramadan in West Michigan, Eid Mubarak! Wishing you and your family a joyous and blessed Eid-al-Fitr!
I’m standing strong with 53 of my @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues to call on Speaker Johnson to do the right thing and pull the SAVE Act from consideration.
House Republicans are expected to bring the SAVE Act to the floor next week. This bill would disenfranchise millions of American women nationwide, and I’m pushing back to prevent this harmful bill from moving forward.
Cuts to vital programs like Medicaid would be catastrophic for families, and I won’t stand for it.
If you or someone you know would be impacted by a cut to Medicaid funding, I invite you to share your story with Team Scholten at repscholten.us/MedicaidStory.
If they want to make changes on how we spend our money, they need to come through Congress—through YOU.
I have been clear from day one: I’m all for efficiency. That is not the problem.
The problem is the unelected, unappointed individuals who are running rampant through systems that contain our private, sensitive data.🧵
Hearing directly from you at last night's town hall was so powerful, West Michigan. It was so important to me to meet with you face-to-face to hear your questions and stories, and I'm looking forward to many more in the future. www.woodtv.com/news/grand-r...
There will never be a shortage of challenges coming our way, but I’m facing them with YOU ALL at the center of my work.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our town hall in Grand Rapids last night—it was a PACKED HOUSE!
Hearing from you is absolutely crucial to doing my job well, and I was thrilled to meet you all in person to have a real, genuine conversation about the future of West Michigan and our country.
