Christopher Van Hollen Jr. is an American attorney and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Maryland, a seat he has held since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the U.S. representative for Maryland's 8th congressional district from 2003 to 2017 and as a Maryland state senator from 1995 to 2003.

Make no mistake: Their endgame is to give billionaires control of the government so they can then turn around and deliver a massive tax cut for the ultra-wealthy. There can be no "business as usual" in the U.S. Congress. We must fight this assault on working people.
Every committee in Congress should hold urgent hearings on Musk's illegal takeover of the federal government. He is causing real harm to the American people. I've been demanding hearings in the committees I sit on — the Republicans in charge need to DO THEIR JOBS.
🚨We just learned that Elon Musk and his cronies are planning to fire nearly the ENTIRE workforce at USAID. This blatantly illegal action will cause huge damage to America around the world. We will immediately fight this in Congress and the Courts — IT MUST NOT STAND.
We can’t have business as usual in the Senate. That's why every Committee should be focused on Musk's takeover of the federal govt. I called on Republicans running the Banking Committee to have an emergency hearing on Musk gaining access to the most sensitive information of Americans. Do your job!
Last I checked, the Constitution is pretty clear: presidents are not kings. President Trump can’t cherry-pick the law. We will hold him accountable in Congress and through the courts — and that work is already underway.
Hearing reports that Musk’s cronies are targeting NOAA — infiltrating key systems and locking out career employees. NOAA is vital for weather forecasting, scientific research and more. Their critical work saves lives. My team and I are looking into this and we will not stand for it.

As I told @velshi.bsky.social, it's simple math: these across-the-board tariffs on key trade partners will be nothing more than a huge sales tax on Americans. This is the start of the great betrayal. Elon Musk won't feel the impact of these price hikes, but working Americans will.
So our first line of defense is the courts — and we are doing everything we can to support lawsuits against this power grab. We must also protect federal employees who rightfully refuse to follow ILLEGAL orders. (3/4)
