I visited the FBI’s Sacramento office earlier this week to meet with agents working every day to keep the Sacramento region safe.
Pushing out experienced diplomats weakens our readiness abroad and undermines decades of institutional knowledge at a time when our nation needs it most.
These layoffs show a continued lack of respect for career professionals who dedicated their lives to serving our nation and underscore that the Administration has no clear plan or strategy to manage the State Department’s workforce.

I will continue fighting to ensure our teachers receive the compensation and benefits that reflect the value they bring to our students, families, and communities.
That same dedication is reflected in teachers across the Sacramento region and throughout our nation. Our teachers do far more than teach lessons. They build confidence, mentor students, and help shape the next generation.

Today, I’m thinking of my mom who spent 35 years as a public school teacher. I saw firsthand the hard work, patience, and care she brought to her classroom every day.

Today’s Supreme Court decision severely restricts the enforcement power of Section 2, enabling states to draw maps that dilute minority voting power and undermine fair representation in Congress.
The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed after decades of relentless advocacy by civil rights activists who fought, marched, and sacrificed to secure the right to vote.
