Trump’s tariffs are scaring away more than just jobs.
Mike Johnson just cancelled votes in the House for next week, the seventh week in a row of recess. Republicans' ongoing vacation in the middle of a government shutdown continues.
Democrats are willing to work to end this shutdown, fund SNAP, and get our government running again.
This is my call to House Republicans – stop the vacation, let’s get back to work. Families with mouths to feed count on it.

BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.
Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.

Democrats are ready to address this crisis. Donald Trump and Republicans need to do their job and negotiate a compromise.
I have legislation to remove penalties on TSP withdrawals, and cosponsored @repsuhas.bsky.social' bill to make similar changes for federal contractors, but obviously nothing is passing in the House right now with the Republican recess at six weeks and counting.

This has been a rough year for people who depend on SNAP. In July Republicans passed - and Trump signed - the largest cut to SNAP and nutrition assistance for needy people in American history.
