I introduced the Half-Earth Resolution to honor my friend and famed scientist E.O. Wilson’s vision of protecting half the land and sea, and all the creatures that live there. We need to protect our special places for future generations of hikers, climbers, snorkelers, and bird lovers.
As my constituents continue to share their stories to help us understand the real-life consequences of the Trump Administration’s actions, I'm outraged by these cruel attacks on our federal workforce.
No one who wants to serve the American people should be treated this way.
This is great news. Unions are a cornerstone of the middle class and do so much to support our federal workers and protect them from the Trump Administration’s unlawful actions.

BREAKING: The International Monetary Fund says the economic outlooks for the U.S. and the world have worsened significantly due to Trump's trade war.

I am hosting a job fair to support federal workers and contractors on May 3 at George Washington Middle School in Alexandria. Come meet with companies from various sectors, including from health care, local government, military, finance, and more.

This goes beyond incompetence, it's dangerous and a threat to national security.
Republican Senators knew Hegseth would be a disaster and voted for him anyway. His tenure has been a predictable embarrassment. It should end yesterday.
Today we remember more than 1.5 million lives lost in the Armenian Genocide, which began 110 years ago on this date. We must never deny this truth – and never forget our responsibility to prevent an atrocity like this from happening again.

Today is Yom HaShoah, a day we reflect on the tragic loss of 6 million Jewish lives in the Holocaust. The scourge of anti-Semitism is still present in society today, but we must stand united against hate in all its forms. #NeverAgain
President Trump and Republicans have said that caring about our planet is part of so-called “culture wars.”
But the only fight I see is the need to protect the Earth and its environment for future generations. There are those working for the planet and those against it.
These actions also carry a heavy economic cost.
Extreme weather events caused by climate change cost us over $180B in 2024 alone. And it drives up home insurance rates for Americans across the country.

Trump's anti-climate, anti-environment, anti-science actions have a human cost.
Extreme weather events like hurricanes and flooding led to 568 lives lost. Studies find that air pollution kills, including over 100,000 Americans every year.

Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act to incentivize clean energy. It contributed to jobs and manufacturing investment across the country.
But Trump is looking to kill these American jobs and manufacturing investments.

Trump's so-called “drill, baby, drill” efforts seek to expand fossil fuel extraction on federal lands and waters.
We were already the largest producer of oil of any nation in history, we don’t need to add in selling out our parks to polluters.

Trump again withdrew the US from the Paris Climate Agreement, an entirely voluntary agreement!
That only removes U.S. influence on the global stage, disadvantaging our efforts to lead compared to China and the EU in the clean energy market.

Circumstances have dramatically changed since then.
Today, we have a President who is gutting critical environmental and public health protections and prioritizing the profits of corporate polluters.
Happy 55th celebration of Earth Day – a reminder that the Earth is something we need to protect.
When Earth Day was first celebrated, it was the result of bipartisan support for the planet. A shared vision for protecting the health and safety of our planet's future.
Trump’s plainly stupid tariff policies combined with Congressional Republicans’ so-called “one big, beautiful bill” for reconciliation is a plan to play favors for the wealthy.
Billionaires will receive major tax cuts while working Americans, who’ll see their costs rise dramatically, foot the bill.
