This Public Service Recognition Week, I'm deeply grateful for the dedicated public servants who keep our country running. They deserve our gratitude and respect, not political attacks, mass firings, and efforts to undermine their work.

NEW: Infectious disease experts are concerned the CDC and NIH aren’t doing enough to respond the hantavirus outbreak.
“This, to me, not overstating it, is a travesty,” one said.

It would be nice if we had an FBI Director focused on responding to things like this with the same verve he shows for abusing his power to investigate people who discuss his consumption of alcohol.
9,000 schools across the country are being affected by a massive hack right now that is shutting down Canvas during finals week for millions of American students (including me).
Trump’s tariffs are an illegal tax on the American people.
That was true of the tariffs struck down by the Supreme Court, and of the tariffs he replaced them with.
This unconstitutional abuse of power is costing American families thousands of dollars and hurting our economy.

Donald Trump’s illegal tariffs are killing small businesses.
In 2025, small businesses cut nearly 300k jobs. That’s 4.5X larger than the number lost during the pandemic.
To make it worse, Congressional Republicans are helping Trump crush small businesses.

🚨JUST IN: Due to Trump's tariffs, small businesses LOST 4.5x more jobs in 2025 than they did in 2020 during the pandemic.
Trump's policies are bad for small businesses, bad for workers, and bad for the country.

Mom-and-pop shops are under increasing pressure from a confluence of factors: tariffs, high interest rates, expensive health insurance and now surging energy costs.

For nearly six decades the U.S. has voluntarily remained in the dark on Israel's nuclear capabilities.
The ambiguity ends now.
In a Wild West AI environment without minimally acceptable federal guardrails, states have taken the lead to address real and growing risks – and that’s a good thing.
Until there’s a strong federal framework, states must retain the ability to protect the American public.
Republicans must join Democrats to impose guardrails and ensure ICE and CBP follow the law.
This is deeply concerning especially in light of the news that the Trump administration is shutting down the office tasked with investigating abuse while ICE and CBP continue violating basic human rights and federal detention standards, an unacceptable and deliberate attempt to avoid accountability.

After gutting the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman (created by Congress to protect people held in custody) last year by cutting its staff 90%, the Trump admin kills it completely at a time when ICE deaths have reached record levels.
This is deliberate indifference.
If the President wanted to curb nuclear risk, withdrawing from the JCPOA clearly moved us in the opposite direction. Now Americans are paying the price of Trump's reckless decisions with a 40% spike in gas prices – hardly a ‘small price’ to pay.

We have a year’s worth of economic data since Liberation Day, when President Trump announced much higher tariffs on most imported goods and countries, and the data are definitive; the tariffs have done significant damage to the economy.
Trump continues to chip away at DC's public institutions to create lavish playgrounds for his friends. It's completely shameful, but I'm glad to see the court put at least a temporary stop to this.
Our public spaces should not become exclusive backrooms for MAGA sycophants.

Soil at the public DC golf course where the Trump admin dumped debris of the White House East Wing has tested positive for lead, chromium and other toxic metals.

Donald Trump and his administration know tariffs are terribly unpopular and increasing costs for American families. That's why they refuse to let Congress vote on them – because they know they don’t have the votes.

UPDATE:
Access to mifepristone has been rightfully restored.
Mifepristone was safe and effective when the FDA first approved it over 25 years ago, and it remains safe and effective for the millions of people who have used it to end their pregnancies and manage their miscarriages since.
