In a few minutes we will vote on Trump's Big Ugly Bill.
If this bill becomes law, hundreds of thousands of Ohioans will lose their health care and lose their nutrition benefits - at a time when prices keep going up.
That's a Hell No for me.
Tonight, I spoke out in the Rules Committee against the cold, calculated cuts in Trump’s Big Bad Ugly Bill and filed an amendment to undo their SNAP cuts targeting families.
This bill ignores the real lives of working class families and makes their lives harder, not easier.
Republicans are trying to pass their tax scam before anyone notices.
If Trump's Big Ugly Bill becomes law MILLIONS will lose health care.
The Congressional Budget Office ran the numbers. In #OH11 approx 13,000 people will lose ACA coverage and 25,000 will lose Medicaid coverage.
This is wrong.
Republicans are trying to pass the GOP tax scam through committee in the middle of the night, starting at 1 AM.
Trump's big ugly bill cuts Medicaid, SNAP, even school lunches- to give tax breaks to the wealthy.
No wonder they're hiding.

House Republicans are so ashamed of the GOP Tax Scam that they are planning a 1 AM committee meeting tonight to jam it through Congress.
In today's Democratic Daily Download, @repmcgovern.bsky.social breaks down what's in this ugly bill and what Democrats are doing to stop it.
I stand with @replamonica.bsky.social
Congress has a constitutional obligation to perform lawful oversight, especially when the White House is lawless, reckless, and secretive.
These politically motivated charges aimed at criminalizing oversight must be dropped.
We will not be intimidated.
Good news - more federal funding for the airport is headed our way thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Congratulations to our 2025 OH-11 Youth Advisory Council!
This weekend, we celebrated their accomplishments this year and brought community leaders together to hear their capstone presentations on key policy topics facing NE Ohio.
I can’t wait to see what they do next.
Unlike some of my colleagues, I relied on food stamps growing up.
With Congress debating the Republican plan to enact the largest SNAP cut in history, I talked about my experience and how my mom needed those benefits to make sure we were fed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS9c...
Our Agriculture Committee meetings often begin with a prayer. Tonight, as Republicans rolled out the largest cuts to nutrition assistance in history, I reflected on what's in the Bible about helping those in need.

🧵8/8 Bottom line:
These cuts take food off the tables of millions and money out of the pockets of farmers.
🧵7/8 Cutting SNAP won't solve our budget problems.
We should be:
Closing tax loopholes
Making the ultra-wealthy pay what they owe
Strengthening programs that lift up families and support American agriculture
🧵6/8 This bill discards 90% of the traditional farm bill to push a partisan agenda.
That includes gutting the nutrition title—an essential pillar of both rural and urban economies.
🧵5/8 Republican leadership claims these cuts help farmers.
They don’t.
Instead, they fracture the bipartisan farm bill coalition and destabilize farm country by reducing consumer purchasing power.
🧵4/8 This isn’t just a safety net issue. It’s an economic issue.
SNAP supports:
$20 billion in direct wages
Jobs in trucking, warehousing, food production, and retail
Local economies, especially in rural areas where SNAP use is high
🧵3/8 Who gets hit the hardest?
5 million seniors relying on food assistance to make ends meet
10 million children whose health and development depend on consistent nutrition
Millions of veterans and people with disabilities
🧵2/8 These cuts would:
Eliminate $30 billion in income for farmers
Jeopardize nearly 400,000 jobs in the food supply chain
Harm 27,000+ rural retailers that serve high-SNAP-use communities
🧵1/8 Reconciliation markup begins today on Ag Committee.
Here’s what you need to know about Republicans’ proposed $290 billion cut to food assistance and what that means for our economy, families, and farmers. ⬇️
Instead of lowering costs, Trump and MAGA Republicans are planning to make life worse for millions.
Trump's tax scam could devastate Ohio and cause hundreds of thousands in our state alone to lose health care coverage.
