The Trump administration just took down a government website with information about prenatal care, cancer screenings, birth control and other reproductive health care. Making it more difficult to access these services puts lives at risk. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
I'm honored to serve as Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Technology Modernization for the 119th Congress! I'm excited for the opportunity to lead on cybersecurity, data privacy and tech innovation policies to help improve VA services for our vets.
52 years ago, the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade established the right to abortion nationwide. On today’s anniversary, I am more determined than ever to restore, protect and expand reproductive freedom for all women.
15 years ago, the Supreme Court's disastrous Citizens United decision paved the way for unelected billionaires like Elon Musk to buy access, influence and favorable policy decisions at the expense of everyday Americans. It's time to #EndCitizensUnited.
Every day, Americans worry about whether they will be able to afford the medications they need. Last night, President Trump signed an executive order to make those medications even more expensive.
56 years ago, Shirley Chisholm was sworn in as the first Black woman to serve in Congress. Today, let's celebrate her legacy as a trailblazer - never afraid to defy the odds and stand up for equality and justice.
If we want to convince voters of our vision, Democrats must do more than show up. We must listen, engage and reconnect with the concerns of working people, like those I represent in Illinois’ 13th District. https://buff.ly/4g9WHAe
Today, I will attend the inauguration and continue my work on behalf of Central and Southern Illinoisans.
My commitment to our communities will always come first—regardless of who occupies the White House.
Today, we honor the extraordinary legacy of Cecile Richards. Her advocacy gave women the power to control their healthcare and shape their futures.
My thoughts are with her family and loved ones as they mourn her loss.
Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to fighting against racism and standing up for justice, equality and opportunity for all. This #MLKDay, let's remember that the Reverend Dr. King’s work is not finished and come together in the pursuit of his dream.
Accidents at grade crossings, like the one on Bradley Avenue, are a leading cause of rail-related deaths in the United States. With this grade separation project, we have the chance to save lives from a potential tragedy in our community.
It's official. Starting on May 7, 2025, you'll need a REAL ID to go through TSA at the airport. Visit https://www.dhs.gov/real-id to find out out if your ID is REAL ID compliant BEFORE you travel to make sure you make your flight.
Before I came to Congress, I worked for the IAFF - fighting to get firefighters higher pay and better benefits. Today, I'm filled with gratitude for the brave firefighters from across the country who are risking their lives to battle the devastating California wildfires.
I introduced the bipartisan Protect Postal Performance Act to stop Postmaster General DeJoy from downsizing mail processing facilities in Champaign and Springfield. His misguided plans would only worsen delays faced by rural communities.
For decades, folks in Venice, Madison and Granite City have been fighting for justice after being exposed radioactive waste from the former Dow Chemical Company. I'm determined to get these communities the federal compensation they deserve. We're not giving up.
New federal guidance puts us on track to ensure #IL13 corn & soybean growers benefit from the 45Z tax credit.
I was proud to work with the Biden Administration and renewable fuels stakeholders on this effort. I urge the incoming Trump Administration to finalize these proposals.
My team is hitting the road for traveling office hours tomorrow! Catch them in Edwardsville, Monticello, Staunton, Carlinville, Virden and East St. Louis to get your casework questions answered.
I welcome the news of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that will bring home 33 hostages, send critical humanitarian aid and halt the horrific fighting in Gaza. I hope that this deal is the first step toward a lasting peace.
Today, on what would have been Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 96th birthday, join me in honoring the Reverend Dr. King’s incredible legacy.
Dr. King’s fearless leadership and powerful words continue to inspire us to work toward a more fair and just society.
