It’s long past time that we take on the affordable housing crisis with the urgency that it demands. We need to lower rents and make it possible for young people to buy homes.   Here’s a little bit about how my Community Housing Act would do this.
I spent last week talking to folks across Vermont. Whether we’re ensuring folks have food to eat, charting the path forward for rural development, or making health care and housing more affordable, it's clear we've got work to do.

This week in DC, we need to focus on the issues that matter.
One of the worst parts of the Trump era is that we’re repeatedly told to hate our neighbors.   Just look at all the positive videos – of people from around the world coming together to celebrate sports right now – and know we can choose a different path.
I’m proud to be celebrating World Refugee Day. Refugees are our neighbors, our coworkers, and members of our communities. Today and every day, we thank those who’ve decided to make their home in Vermont and salute the amazing partners who help welcome them.
Happy Juneteenth! As a former history teacher, I really appreciate Juneteenth - the history it teaches us and the lessons it leaves us with today. None of us are truly free unless we’re all free.
This video goes out to all the graduates and the loved ones who helped them get there. Congratulations! No matter what’s going on in the world, it’s important we put things aside to rejoice in these milestones.
It’s been a big week for housing. On Monday, I announced the my Community Housing Act to bring costs down. And yesterday, a bipartisan deal was struck on a major housing package. There’s agreement - whatever your politics and wherever you live - that this is a crisis that demands action.
Let’s be clear: Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress kicked MILLIONS of Americans off health care through their refusal to bring premiums down.   They quite literally took the money they could have used for this and instead cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy. Disgusting.
The targeting of the trans community has been one of the most disgusting aspects of this administration.   I’ll never turn my back on our trans neighbors, whether they’re in Vermont or anywhere else in the country. They deserve the same rights and respect as anyone else.
It shouldn’t be so hard to watch football.   Starting next season, the only authorized way for restaurants and bars to watch out-of-market games will be through EverPass Media, a joint venture between the NFL and a private equity firm.   We can already see more cost increases on the horizon.
Unfortunately, it turns out we were right. The Trump admin, led by people like Stephen Miller, WAS considering invoking the Insurrection Act against American citizens. This shows that we all need to stay loud and keep calling this stuff out. They’re doing exactly what we think they’re doing.
Today, alongside critical community partners, I announced the reintroduction of the Community Housing Act. This is one of the most significant pieces of legislation I lead in Congress. This bill is full of concrete actions we can take to address the housing crisis. And we have no time to waste.

The Community Housing Act Will Address the Housing Crisis for All By:
Increasing the supply of affordable housing | Keeping affordable housing affordable | Encouraging the revamping of zoning codes to eliminate barriers to housing construction | Strengthening and preserving pathways to homeownership | Ensuring resources reach rural areas
When I was first elected to Congress, I had no idea just how often I’d need to stand up for our LGBTQ+ rights.   I’m honored to do this work, and I won’t stop until every person in this country can be their whole and true self.
Trump installed a lackey to lead the Department of Justice, and now he wants to make him permanent. The absurd idea of making Todd Blanche the permanent attorney general conflicts with the entire concept of an independent DOJ.
The problem with tonight’s UFC fight is the grift. For Trump’s birthday vanity project, he’s using OUR White House as a billboard for corporations. If only he’d spend this much effort on lowering people’s everyday costs.
