Last night, President Biden said we need to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. He's 100% right. Serving in Congress is not for personal gain and wealth.
The Republican Party wants to act like they're "pro-life" but are discouraging members of Congress to grow their families by failing to accommodate them.
Congress should support working parents.
This is a critical first step in rebuilding the political stability and safety of the entire region and securing a free and self-determined Palestine. Attentive and serious diplomacy will be imperative to achieving true lasting peace and a safer future for Palestinians and Israelis.
If the 50 years of precedence in Roe could be overturned, then why would we think Republicans would stop there? They won't. Just last week, Republicans in Idaho started their crusade to overturn Obergefell, which guarantees the right to marry who you love.
Today we mourn the loss of Gov. Tom Salmon. When he ran in 1972, the odds were unquestionably against him. But he led with his values, he focused on issues impacting everyday Vermonters, and he didn't give up. My deepest condolences to his family and gratitude for his example.
I'm proud to announce I've been elected Vice Ranking Member of @democrats-judiciary.house.gov
I’m honored to work with Ranking Member @raskin.house.gov as we take on corporate greed, shore up reproductive freedoms, strengthen our democracy, and defend LGBTQI+ rights.
Banning trans kids from sports solves *none* of the problems that Americans are facing.
Let’s be real: Trans kids aren't the reason we can't afford groceries. Trans kids aren't the reason young people are giving up on ever owning a home.
Corporate greed is.
Trans Americans are not the problem. The obsession with monitoring kids' genitals is the problem.
Republicans want your kids, my kids, our kids to have their genitals examined by adults before sports practice.
It’s vile and twisted. An absolute invasion of children’s privacy.
77,000 people in Vermont have $3.5 billion worth of student loan debt. This is just crippling for these families and is holding back our economy. Cancel student debt.

Sunday smiles. I feel ready as we head into another week of fighting for progressive change. The tide is against us, but we have to remain committed to the needs of tens of millions of Americans who voted against Trumpism and for supporting working people. Courage over comfort.
Right-wing extremism and dangerous rhetoric is able to spread quickly online in part because we don't have consensus on reality. Conspiracy theorists looking to undermine democracy thrive off of this. And this only stands to get worse as platforms shirk their responsibility.
🚨🚨 Whole realities — the supposed culprits for the LA inferno, a new MAGA map of the world, a child sex-abuse scandal ("grooming gangs") in Britain — now sweep the internet overnight.
We no longer need fact-checkers. We need reality-checkers. www.axios.com/2025/01/10/t...
Well it's not news to anyone that Vermonters are struggling to afford anything after paying for their home, health care, and groceries. This year I'll be reupping my legislation that would build more housing, lower rent, and strengthen pathways to homeownership. Change is possible.
Trump thinks rules and ethics don't apply to him so this is no surprise. He has corrupted the Supreme Court to clear his rap sheet.
Now would be a great time for Congress to take up the SCERT Act to enforce a code of conduct for Supreme Court justices.
BREAKING:
Samuel Alito spoke with Trump on Tuesday — not long before Trump's lawyers asked the Supreme Court to delay his sentencing in the criminal hush money case. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/08/u...
I'm devastated for LA💔
The homes and lives people have worked to build their entire lives were destroyed in an instant.
There's no denying it anymore. The climate crisis is here. These are the deadly consequences of our inaction. Americans deserve and need real action now.
My work on the housing crisis, the mental health crisis, and strengthening our delicate democracy will continue no matter the headwinds.
Rest in power, President Carter.
The hate, lies, conspiracy theories, and disinformation spread on social media are dangerous. It's flagrantly irresponsible to put the burden of fact-checking on users. It's time corporations are held accountable for the rapid fire spread of misinformation on their platforms.
Proud to cheer when Vermont was called as VP Harris presided over the certification of the election. 👏
This year I’m reminding myself to choose courage over comfort every single day. The issues Vermonters are facing have to be tackled no matter who is president, no matter how divided Congress is. That's my challenge and I’m ready for it.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
