President Trump's attacks on mail-in voting are all about him – voting should be about the people. All eligible voters deserve to be heard. Getting rid of vote-by-mail would make it harder for Oregonians – and Americans – to use their voices, and that's exactly what he wants. I won't stand for it.
Breaking News: President Trump said he would lead a movement to eliminate mail-in ballots and that he wanted to get rid of voting machines. Trump has long opposed mail-in voting, though Republicans made electoral gains in 2024 by embracing the practice. nyti.ms/3Jk0D6W
Costs for businesses are rising thanks to Trump's tariffs, and we need to get to the bottom of what this means for consumers. I'm here to lower costs for Oregonians – that's why I introduced my Protecting Families from Inflation Act. www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...
August is peak wildfire season here in Oregon, so I was grateful to meet with firefighters out in Redmond to discuss ways they are preparing and protecting our communities. I’ll always fight to make sure our local fire departments have what they need to keep us safe at home.
Thank you to the amazing officials at the Redmond Public Safety Facility for giving me a tour of their new center. By putting the Police Department, fire, and EMS services all under one roof, the facility is decreasing response times, improving coordination, and making CD5 safer.
The $87 million in federal funding Trump is stealing from our state could help lower energy costs for over 8,000 Oregonians. The EPA needs to reinstate the Solar for All program immediately – we should be making life more affordable, not less. www.opb.org/article/2025...
The aircrews at the Redmond Air Center play a key role in fighting wildfires across Central Oregon. Today, I got to tour their air center, check out some of the aircrafts, and meet with the brave forest service representatives who keep our communities safe.
The $14 million in federal funding I fought for will help our community invest in projects from expanding water infrastructure, to constructing Early Childhood Centers, to building affordable housing. Learn more about the projects at my website below ⬇️ bynum.house.gov/media/press-...
90 years ago today, the Social Security Act was signed into law, creating an earned benefit that helps our seniors retire with dignity. My constituents deserve to live free from the fear of losing their Social Security – that’s why I won’t stop fighting to protect and expand this essential program.
Responding to your comments, Part 2!  Keep letting me know how you’re feeling – it helps me represent you better. You can also always call my office to share your concerns at (503) 387–8651.
Trump and Republicans' trash budget could cost Oregon $15 BILLION in funding for programs Oregonians rely on, including $10 billion for Medicaid and $2.8 billion for SNAP. Healthcare will be more expensive and food will be harder to afford, all so they could make life easier for billionaires.
Federal budget cuts backed by President Trump will cut $15 billion from Oregon health insurance coverage, food benefits, and other programs, according to a state analysis.
Talk about leadership – Clackamas Community College President Tim Cook ran 26 – 30 miles A DAY for a total of 1,400 miles, all in the name of supporting his students and students across Oregon. Congratulations on a fantastic run for a great cause. www.oregonlive.com/education/20...
The Trump administration is trying to roll back regulations for power plants, a decision that would have devastating impacts on our environment. I’m calling on the EPA to do its job – we need to be fighting for clean air and clean water for our communities, not helping big polluters cut corners.
I grew up in DC and this supposed takeover is like Trump playing cops and robbers with himself. I’m deeply disturbed at the continued interference with the city’s affairs and Home Rule. It's a distraction and a power grab. He needs to get out.
President Trump announced that he’ll take control of D.C. police and deploy the National Guard to fight crime and remove homeless people from the streets of Washington — an extraordinary flex of federal power. 🧵 Here’s what to know: wapo.st/4owUXqk
Thank you to all of you who have shown up and used your voice at my town halls across the district this summer. We are in a fight for our nation, our values, and our freedoms, and it is your stories that fuel our fight – let’s keep giving ‘em hell!
Local news stations across CD5 are facing uncertainty as a result of the cuts to public broadcasting in Republicans' trash budget. People will lose their jobs, emergency alert systems will be impacted, and access to information will be limited. Read more 👇 www.kptv.com/2025/08/05/o...
Higher prices caused by President Trump's tariffs are estimated to cost households an average of $2,400 per year. His economic policies are out of control, and it's Oregonians who are going to foot the bill. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
