Instead of offering support to communities rebuilding from last year's wildfire season, the USDA has put $90 million in federal funding for wildfire mitigation on hold.
This is a step in the wrong direction – our communities deserve support, not broken promises.

August is peak wildfire season here in Oregon, so I was grateful to meet with firefighters out in Redmond to discuss ways they are preparing and protecting our communities.
I’ll always fight to make sure our local fire departments have what they need to keep us safe at home.
Thank you to the amazing officials at the Redmond Public Safety Facility for giving me a tour of their new center.
By putting the Police Department, fire, and EMS services all under one roof, the facility is decreasing response times, improving coordination, and making CD5 safer.
The $87 million in federal funding Trump is stealing from our state could help lower energy costs for over 8,000 Oregonians.
The EPA needs to reinstate the Solar for All program immediately – we should be making life more affordable, not less.
