Tonight, the House will pass the biggest housing package in over 30 years, including numerous bills I have introduced to cut through red tape, build more affordable housing, and lower costs for families. As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Housing, I'm proud of this bipartisan achievement.
Senate passes housing affordability bill
Freedom is always worth celebrating. But Juneteenth isn’t just about remembering our history and celebrating the promise we’ve made—it’s a call to continue the work. Wishing everyone in #MO05 and across the country a Happy Juneteenth!
I am thrilled that the House and the Senate, Republicans and Democrats, have come together to reach a compromise that will enable the passage of historic and desperately needed housing reforms. My full statement:
Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies, helping to create opportunities for workers and support economic development. I was proud to attend the grand opening of the new Safi Fresh at 18th & Vine this week as we continue to support the revitalization of this historic neighborhood!
Houses of worship often serve the most vulnerable members of community by providing food assistance and shelter to those in need. I sat down with Rev. Fikki of Unity Southeast in Kansas City to discuss ways in which Congress can support these efforts. Thank you for your input and leadership.
The president’s ballroom is running $200 million over budget—and American taxpayers are now projected to pay for half of the vanity project. Another promise broken. That funding should go toward lowering costs for hardworking families. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...
The end of the conflict and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would be welcome news—but the strait was open before the president’s disastrous war. Meanwhile, Iran’s nuclear program has not been eliminated, a more hardline regime is in place with more funding, and energy prices are still soaring.
Trump is waiting to party on the South Lawn after surrendering to Iran. My latest: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
While working-class families are struggling to get by, the president just wasted $60 million in taxpayer funding on his own personal birthday party. Those dollars should be going toward making life better for the American people. thehill.com/homenews/adm...
No veteran should have to wonder where they will sleep at night. KC Footprints' Heroes Home Gate Campus is doing the critical work of housing Missouri veterans, providing stability and helping them achieve long-term success. Proud to have secured $850,000 in funding to support their mission.
The existence of a trillionaire while millions of Americans go hungry is a moral failing. Rather than providing more tax breaks and subsidies to the ultra-wealthy, Congress should be investing in healthcare, education, and job training for working-class families.
Shares of Elon Musk’s rocket company began trading publicly on the Nasdaq stock exchange, raising $75 billion for the company in the largest initial public offering ever and making Musk the world’s first trillionaire. nbcnews.to/4uR3nLj
As working-class families continue to struggle with the cost-of-living crisis, it is important that Congress pass historic, bipartisan housing legislation that will lower housing costs nationwide. We have a bill to do just that. More here: www.foxnews.com/video/639630...
The Congressional Award is given to one individual from each congressional district that promotes excellence through public service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration. Congratulations to Avalee Flores on being named the Congressional Award winner in #MO05!
10 years ago, 49 innocent lives were stolen during a mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. Today, we honor their memories by condemning hate in all forms and continuing the push for gun safety solutions that will keep our communities safe.
