Targeting Latinos because of the color of their skin, the language they speak, and the jobs they hold. Locking away innocent children. Colluding with the likes of Governor Abbott to target communities. All to fuel the President's mass deportation for profit machine.
I join the family in demanding a full investigation and have urged ICE to release all body-camera and dash-camera footage, as well as any communications from agents before and after the shooting.
We remember the 139 lives lost in catastrophic flooding that devastated the Texas Hill Country a year ago today. I am grateful to the heroes and first responders who saved countless lives. We must continue to work at the federal, state, and local level to prevent future tragedies.
Happy Independence Day, San Antonio! Our nation was founded on the belief that all people are created equal. As we celebrate 250 years of America, may we honor the generations who fought tyranny, and worked for liberty and justice for all. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Still in his mariachi attire, a detention facility worker taunted him: "If you sing me a song, I'll let you go." What was meant as mockery, mariachis across San Antonio have turned into an act of solidarity and are banding together to sing for his release.
The families were ultimately sent back to Dilley but worry that they could be deported at any time. It is unthinkable to send children and families, who have committed no crimes, into a country plunged into chaos by natural disaster.
Just hours after the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela that killed over 1,900 people, ICE attempted to deport children and families from the Dilley Trailer Prison to Venezuela. They were woken up in the middle of the night and sent to Arizona on their way to Venezuela.
Today’s ruling puts a check on the President’s attack on the 14th amendment in pursuit of his mass deportation campaign. Birthright citizenship is a constitutional right and our nation is stronger because of the children of immigrants, not in spite of them.
Sister Letty was on her way to Sunday mass when ICE detained her. Trump said he would go after the worst of the worst. But time and again, the administration is going after the best of the best—children, teachers, doctors.
