Michael’s service on the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission dates back to my time working for Supervisor Naomi Schwartz, and his partnership was invaluable during my service as First District Supervisor.

One of the most special parts of the Central Coast is our many small businesses, and I remain committed to advocating for policies that ensure their continued success.
It was great to visit Panadería Maná, a local favorite in Santa Maria. I was inspired by how Rosa has continued her family's decades-long legacy of baking fresh, traditional Mexican bread every day.
Congratulations to UCSB Professors Alice L. Alldredge, Lars Bildsten, and Henry T. Yang for your election to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Your groundbreaking work and academic achievements make the Central Coast (and every Gaucho) very proud.
Trump's illegal tariffs and illegal war in Iran are increasing costs for all Americans — including our service members and their families. Took this photo today at the Ventura County Naval Base. Our military families shouldn't have to pay the price for Trump's bad policies.
I’m proud to have worked with the Ventura County DA Erik Nasarenko and the Center’s dedicated team to secure federal funding for this project.
I was honored to speak at the grand opening of the Ventura Family Justice Center’s new domestic violence shelter. This shelter will create a safe space where survivors can access counseling, legal assistance, crisis support, and much more.
House Republicans kept DHS shut down for over 70 days, cutting off funds for FEMA, TSA, the Coast Guard & more. They played games with your safety while making life harder and more expensive. Enough is enough. You deserve better.
Democrats held the line and Republicans caved. The DHS funding bill passed the House with ZERO dollars for ICE.
House passes the Senate-approved DHS funding bill by a voice vote.
It funds everything in DHS except ICE/CBP, including TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, CISA.
This ends a 75-day shutdown.
Bill now goes to Trump to become law.

In California, over 200,000 people have lost SNAP benefits since Republicans passed their cuts in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, and their farm bill locks those cuts in place. Today, I voted no on this disastrous farm bill and will continue to fight to rollback these devastating cuts to food assistance.
This Supreme Court decision is another blow to voting rights and continues to take us backwards. Congress must intervene and pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to defend Americans' civil rights.
I stand by what I said. What else do you call a Defense Secretary who launches an illegal war with no exit plan — and confuses a Pulp Fiction line for a Bible verse?
My full statement on this backwards decision:
The Trump administration is giving a private company $120 million in taxpayer dollars to NOT complete one of the long-planned wind energy projects in Morro Bay. This is yet another example of the Trump administration favoring fossil fuel companies at the expense of clean energy projects.
Gregg has fought to protect California's coastline for decades, including establishing the landmark Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies program. Congratulations, Gregg, on this well-deserved recognition.
During this year's Santa Barbara Earth Day festival, I had the honor of presenting the Environmental Hero award to my good friend and community leader Assemblymember Gregg Hart.
We're lucky to have great libraries that keep our communities connected & provide access to education resources.
Great to visit the Saticoy Library with Supervisor Matt LaVere & Ventura County Library Deputy Director Ned Branch. During my visit, I was able to donate books from the Library of Congress.
My bipartisan bill with Rep. Blake Moore would do just that by banning prediction market bets tied to war, terrorism, government activities, and more.
No one should be able to profit off of prediction market bets tied to war — especially our own soldiers. We need clear rules of the road to prevent this type of illicit activity.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
