Ethan Song lost his life to an unsecured gun. No parent should have to endure this pain.   We honor him by reintroducing Ethan's Law, which sets federal standards for safe gun storage. We must pass sensible gun laws—the safety of our children must always come first. #KeepKidsSafe
As a proud member of the Equality Caucus, I am dedicated to making sure the Equality Act becomes law. EVERY American deserves a life free from discrimination. Over 80% of Americans support LGBTQI+ discrimination protections. The message is clear: pass the Equality Act into law🏳️‍🌈
3 years later, Putin's unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine continues. Ukraine needs our support to defeat Russia’s assault. We cannot appease a dictator.   Democracy must prevail in Ukraine.
Today, on his birthday, we remember my dear friend John Lewis—Advocate, Congressman, Icon.   John was a powerful force in American politics. Let’s honor his legacy by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act & protecting voting rights for all. Make good trouble.
Shipping companies profit from uninspected, untaxed foreign packages. They shouldn’t write the rules.   The Trump Administration needs to stop catering to corporations & close this loophole to protect American jobs and keep fentanyl out.   bit.ly/3QnSFdf
Today, we remember the unjust internment of over 100,000 Japanese Americans during WWII. Let this Remembrance Day inspire us to fight against prejudice in all its forms. We must never be silent in the face of injustice—stand up, speak out, and learn from history.
On top of this, they are working to fire thousands of IRS employees. This move only makes it easier for unchecked billionaires and big corporations to dodge taxes while hardworking Americans pay the price.
This Presidents’ Day, we honor the legacy of strong leadership that has shaped our nation. The best presidents led with courage, vision, & a deep commitment to the American people and the Constitution. Our future depends on leaders who uphold those values.
The Trump Administration is moving to fire over 5,000 workers at Health and Human Services. But I thought the goal was to ‘Make America Healthy Again’ ?...
On the 7th anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas H.S. shooting that took the lives of 17 innocent students & educators, I urge my colleagues to take action to pass legislation to end the gun violence epidemic. Students must always be safe when in school.
I just got word that Musk & his puppet President are planning on firing half of HUD staff.   Meaning? Seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities will be evicted if they can’t foot the bill.   Do they care? No. Another agency broken to enrich their billionaire cabal.
As Chair of Approps, I secured the NLRB's first federal funding increase since FY10. This week, @laborcaucus.bsky.social, @sanders.senate.gov and I led 265 bipartisan lawmakers in a letter condemning Trump’s firing of NLRB member Gwynne Wilcox. #ReinstateWilcox
ICYMI: Donald Trump issued an unprecedented and illegal attack on the National Labor Relations Board by firing a Democratic Board member. He’s blatantly violating the law to attack workers’ rights. That's why we led 265 bipartisan members calling on Trump to #ReinstateWilcox
One of the illegally frozen programs is the GRIP Program which helps states protect their power system against extreme weather. Nearly $2 billion that benefits CT is frozen. This is money to help CT ensure our power doesn't go out in the middle of a storm.
Trump is risking lives & our national security by stealing these resources. Each court order to unfreeze funds is a test: will Trump & Musk follow the law or continue illegally stealing funds? Our adversaries like Russia, China, & Iran are watching & celebrating, btw. bit.ly/415VAfM
