As the childhood hunger crisis worsens in Philly and beyond, we need to invest more into programs like SNAP - not less.
Yet, Trump and Congressional Republicans’ #BigUglyBill cuts billions from this program, stealing from the working class just to give MORE tax cuts to their billionaire buddies.

Why aren’t Vietnam veterans being honored this year at their own memorial, for the first time in three decades?
Because Donald Trump is using the space to throw himself a birthday parade instead. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
129 days in and Trump has tried to rename a body of water, backed a budget that would gut health care coverage for millions, and allowed a walking security risk to run the defense department.
129 days in and Trump has done NOTHING to lower prices for hard-working Americans.
This past Memorial Day, I went to Philadelphia National Cemetery to honor our fallen servicemembers and stand with the families and veterans who carry on their memories.
Let us strive every day to uphold the values of freedom and democracy they bravely fought to protect.
As we mourn those lost, it’s far past time to ban the assault-style weapons & “switches” used in this and countless other shootings. We need urgent federal, state, local, AND community level action to address this national crisis. (2/2)
Last night, yet another community in Philly was shattered by the gun violence epidemic. (1/2)
On Memorial Day, let us remember and pay tribute to the servicemembers of every race, origin, religion, and creed who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Freedom isn't free - we all are forever indebted to their bravery and courage.
George Floyd should still be alive and with his family today.
In his memory, let us recommit ourselves in the fight against injustice. It's past time for Congress to pass the Justice in Policing Act to increase police accountability and create a more equitable justice system for ALL.

This week, Republicans tried to jam through their tax scam in the dead of night. Democrats fought back to expose this bill's cuts to Medicaid and SNAP.
In today’s Democratic Daily Download, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social explains how we will keep standing up for hardworking American taxpayers.
I appreciate @repshontelbrown.bsky.social's partnership on keeping HFFI in place to bring healthy food to underserved urban and rural communities across the country.

I continue to believe that food is medicine, and that every American should have access to affordable, healthy food. It’s one of the best tools in the preventive health-care toolbox!

I was proud to play a leading role as a state legislator in creating the PA program that became the model for the national Healthy Food Financing Initiative.

May is Jewish American Heritage Month!
This month and every month, let us honor and celebrate the rich heritage and legacy of Jewish Americans in Philadelphia and beyond.
I voted NO on the GOP “Reverse Robin Hood” bill that would kick over 50,000 Philadelphians off #Medicaid, cut SNAP food aid, and cut $500 billion from #Medicare – while it gives another tax cut to the wealthiest! And I’ll KEEP fighting this bad bill!

The ACA reconciliation policies have gotten scant coverage, even though they drive a quarter of coverage losses (before accounting for enhanced subsidy expiration)
But 18 state-based marketplaces just sent a pretty blistering letter to the House about just how bad those policies are

We’ve waited eight years to see the Trump health care plan. Here it is. Massive coverage losses and an even clunkier insurance system.
A look at how the House Republican proposals would cut health coverage:

Great piece that clearly lays out the problem and the stakes. "Republicans are opting for opaque cuts, which will shed millions of eligible beneficiaries by overwhelming them with pointless paperwork and other needlessly complicated administrative requirements."
From @pamherd.bsky.social & I @nytimes.com: How Republicans plan to use administrative burdens to kick eligible people off of Medicaid, all to pay for a regressive tax cut.

I’m horrified by the murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside a Jewish museum in Washington. I stand against antisemitism - and with the Jewish community in Philadelphia and nationwide.
