Since 2006, Chief Wolford has selflessly kept communities safe across the country as a first responder and has been serving her home department right here in Anne Arundel County as Fire Chief since 2019.

Please join me in congratulating Anne Arundel County Fire Department’s Fire Chief, Trisha Wolford, who was just sworn in as the International Association of Fire Chiefs President for 2025-2026!
While it took generations of bravery and persistence for women to finally gain one of our most fundamental rights, their struggle proved to us all that even though our goals may take time to achieve, anything good is worth fighting for.
Even though the amendment was first introduced in Congress in 1878, it took decades of tireless struggle – marching, lobbying, writing, and organizing – until the amendment finally passed decades later in 1920.
105 years ago today, three-fourths of our nation agreed to ratify the 19th Amendment, prohibiting discrimination in voting practices on the basis of gender.
From working on legislative initiatives to answering thousands of phone calls & supporting constituents on their hardest days, they have become an important part of our office, & we will miss them dearly. I know they’ll go on to accomplish amazing things no matter where they end up – best of luck!
Please join me in thanking all the #TeamElfreth summer interns! Summer is one of our busiest times in Congress, but these interns still came in with positive attitudes and stepped up day after day.
Do you have an idea for an app? Submit it to the Congressional App Challenge! Open to all middle and high school students in #MD03, the app challenge is one way to showcase and celebrate the immense STEM talent in our district.”

From my days at the Baltimore Aquarium to the State Senate and now in Congress, I’ve advocated for increased access and restoration of Bay sites, and I’m proud that more families can enjoy the Bay today than ever before!
Some great news: over the past 15 years, more than 300 NEW public access sites have opened across the Chesapeake Bay watershed – providing more opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating across Maryland and beyond.
And enjoying a crab feast with friends, we loved seeing all Maryland has to share. Thank you to everyone those who stopped by our booth and our colleagues on @repjohnnyo.bsky.social’s team for a great week of learning and listening!
From trying delicacies of Maryland’s Third District at the Taste of Maryland Event (shout out to The Common Kitchen in Clarksville, Naval Bagels in Annapolis, and Baugher's Orchard & Farm in neighboring Westminster!) to meeting others just as passionate about blue catfish mitigation.
My team and I had a great time meeting with constituents and our state and local partners across Maryland at the 2025 Summer MACo Conference in Ocean City.
Our next telephone town hall is coming up on Monday, September 15th at 7:30 PM. Talk soon and RSVP at the link below ☎️
On deck: An in-person October Town Hall with @brookelierman.bsky.social & @oagmaryland.bsky.social.
But now, nearly 200 facilities are at risk of closure. I’ve joined more than 130 of my colleagues across the House and Senate to introduce legislation to repeal these provisions that would threaten access to lifesaving resources for millions across the country.
Planned Parenthood provides more than just reproductive resources; they provide lifesaving cancer screenings, STI testing, and are often some of the only health care Americans in medically underserved communities receive in a year.
By far one of the most damaging outcomes of President Trump’s Big, Ugly Law was blocking Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood.
This week, I was thrilled to join local, state, and federal leaders to celebrate one step in the journey of the transformation of this historic Crownsville Campus. Congratulations to Sapphire Rise, NAMI Anne Arundel County, and One Annapolis on your new home. More to come!
Since my time in the State Senate, I’ve fought for funding to help ensure @aacoexec.bsky.social’s mission to make the historic Crownsville campus a site of healing, remembrance, and opportunity.
Exciting news: the Nonprofit Center at Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park is officially open! Anne Arundel County residents can now enjoy professional development resources, virtual and in-person support services, and a space for local events.
