Last week, Howard County became the first JustServe County in the eastern United States, and #TeamElfreth had a chance to visit one of their many volunteer opportunities, supporting the Heritage Baptist Church’s food pantry right here in Annapolis.

As a proud member of the @equality.house.gov, I’ve fought to protect and expand the rights of the LGBTQ+ community since day one – restoring crucial 988 mental health services, defeating anti-trans amendments in this year’s defense bill, and more.

As the granddaughter of a proud merchant marine and Seafarer, I know firsthand and am personally grateful for the critical, dangerous, and unsung work of the captains and crew behind our nation’s merchant vessels.
Their operation is just another reminder why we must invest in our shipbuilding and maritime industries so our seamen can continue their crucial work for our economy and our nation.
Pretty cool moment: this week, I joined MARAD & Bridgedeck (MMP) in presenting the Merchant Marine Expeditionary Medal to Captain Mecurio & the crew aboard the Alliance Fairfax, which was the first U.S.-flagged merchant vessels to safely clear the Strait of Hormuz after being stranded for months.
Thank you to the organizers and all our neighbors who continue to show up and speak out so we can build a future where everyone can live openly, authentically, and without fear. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
It was especially meaningful for my team to join in honoring the trans neighbors we have tragically lost to violence or suicide over the past year.
Happy HoCo Pride! This year’s theme of “Exist, Persist, Love” reminds us of the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and the ongoing fight for equal rights. Especially with the culture wars and division coming out of Washington, I’m always proud to see Howard County come together and lead the way.

On the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation, it was incredible to see tens of millions of people from every corner of our country exercising their right to vote. This participation is exactly what our Founders envisioned when they embarked on this great democratic experiment.
