This week, I will take action to protect access to safe, effective, FDA-approved birth control for all by filing a discharge petition to force the House to vote on my Right to Contraception Act. [2/2]

In 1960, in the case of Griswold v. Connecticut, the Supreme Court found that married couples have the right to use birth control.
Now, like so much else, that right is under attack. [1/2]
From denying asylum to canceling naturalization ceremonies, the Trump administration has discriminated against immigrants seeking security and opportunity in the U.S.
@jayapal.house.gov and I led our colleagues in opposing this cruel policy and I am glad to see it struck down for now.
The fixation on putting the President's face on everything from passports to National Parks passes to dollar bills just reminds us who this administration is focused on, and it's not us. (2/2)
While American families make choices between buying medication and putting food on the table, and while costs are rising more quickly than in the last three years, the Trump administration is spending its time figuring how to put the President's face on a $250 bill. (1/2)
(5/5) We must respond with urgency and swiftly fund prevention and eradication efforts so that American farmers and ranchers are protected from potential disaster.
(4/5) A screwworm outbreak will devastate livestock producers and drive beef prices even higher; brisket alone is already up 28 percent in the past year. With input costs rising and the U.S. cattle herd at a 75-year low, Texans could face an estimated $1.8 billion in losses.
(3/5) On top of this, President Trump has strained our relationships with Mexico, Panama, and Central American countries, hampering coordinated efforts to present a unified response against New World screwworm.
(2/5) Last March, the Trump administration fired more than 15,000 USDA employees, hindering our ability to respond to exactly this kind of crisis. Cuts to federal programs and research funding have only made things worse, leaving farmers and ranchers without the resources they need to fight back.
🧵: (1/5) The New World Screwworm is here. But could this have been prevented? Ranchers and experts have repeatedly warned USDA to take necessary precautions to address this inevitable outcome, but the Trump administration has failed to take serious action. www.houstonchronicle.com/business/art...

Attacks on voting rights are attacks on our democracy.
We cannot stay quiet while Republicans rig the system with unfair maps designed to silence Black communities.
Democrats are fighting to protect equal access to the ballot box because YOUR vote matters.

Happy #PrideMonth! I’m proud to represent the diverse and dynamic LGBTQI+ community in #TX07 across Houston. This Congress alone, House Republicans have brought more than 15 anti-LGBTQI+ bills and amendments to the floor. Our fellow Americans deserve better.
Hurricane Season is officially here. Having a kit ready, signing up for local emergency alerts, and being weather aware are your first stops for being prepared. Check out the PDF on my website with links to local resources and helpful lists at fletcher.house.gov/hurricanes.
It's more important than ever for Texans to engage and participate in the work to ensure that all Texans and all Americans can have a real say at the ballot box. (3/3)
The Supreme Court got it wrong. Congress can make it right by passing a new law, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, to protect right and the ability of voters to have a real say in elections in Texas and across the country and actually elect candidates of their choosing. (2/3)
An important read about the why the Voting Rights Act matters in Texas. (1/3)
Since last year, the Trump administration has terminated 2,300 NIH grants and cut $2.5 billion in funding for critical research on diseases like Alzheimer’s and cancer, while creating a $1.8 billion slush fund to reward the President’s allies and supporters, even those who assaulted Capitol Police.
America leads when we have dedicated people—no matter where they're from—working to save lives, create new technologies, and more. So, whose needs does this policy change serve? (2/2)
The mere possibility that hundreds of thousands of immigrants living in the United States will be required to leave their families, homes, and jobs behind for months or more to adjust their immigration status outside the country is as unwise and it is unacceptable. (1/2)
It is deeply concerning that someone so focused on PFAS would allow EPA would roll back the first enforceable federal limits on PFAS in drinking water. This decision must be reversed. (3/3)
