I’m proud to cosponsor @repgreglandsman.bsky.social’s Ban AI Denials in Medicare Act to prohibit implementation of AI models in Medicare if they may influence prior authorization.
Our country is already facing enough issues with insurance companies rejecting prior authorizations.
With the rise of AI, it is critical that Congress ensures that this technology is not being used to approve or deny authorizations without a human in the loop.
As we move forward, I continue to explore all routes to regulate AI and ensure the harmful effects of this technology are not felt by our communities.

I understand that some people have concerns that this legislation may be too broad or aggressive—but lives are at stake. I would much rather support AI regulations that are too strict and subsequently adjust, than the current lack of regulations that are putting our communities at risk.
This bill would ban AI companion chatbots for minors and establish criminal penalties for companies that allow minors to access AI companions that produce sexual content.
We are grateful for the endorsement from the American Association for Justice and Young People's Alliance on this legislation.
People under the age of 18 should not be able to interact with AI companion chatbots outside of strictly educational circumstances. It continues to put lives and the mental health of our youth at risk.

Rest assured, I am continuing to explore legislation alongside my colleagues to regulate data centers and their harmful impacts on our communities.
We cannot stay silent as data centers continue to raise utility costs and put the environment at risk.
While data centers are being built across the country, the very minimum Congress can do is provide federal protections for comment periods.

I’m headed to the floor now to vote against another Republican FISA bill that allows for the surveillance of Americans without a warrant.
I refuse to support legislation that does not respect our fundamental rights, and I implore my colleagues to vote against this bill.
We have all the seen videos of ICE’s repeated abuses of power. I will not be gaslit by the Republican majority into voting to give another $70 billion to this agency.
This agency needs to be dismantled, and its previously approved funding needs to be clawed back.
