🚨 Despite Speaker Johnson's attempts to shut us down, House Democrats are forcing a vote on a 3-year extension of the ACA tax credits.
Our communities can't wait any longer for healthcare costs to be addressed. Republicans need to bring this vote to the floor NOW.
Navigating federal agencies for passport renewals, work authorizations, VA benefits, and more can be difficult—but my casework team is here to help!
If you need assistance with federal agencies, don’t hesitate to reach out to my Durham District Office at 919-967-7924.
It was a pleasure to meet Dept. of Veterans Affairs nurses with @nationalnurses.bsky.social to hear more about how Congress can better support them.
Though the House recently voted to restore bargaining rights for VA nurses, we must ensure safe workplaces and bargaining rights for all nurses.
While Americans are asking for real AI protections for consumers, Trump is bulldozing state-level safeguards through an executive order.
This unconstitutional order silences communities and does nothing to benefit everyday Americans.

I am deeply saddened to learn that Durham native Kendall Turner was injured in the devastating mass shooting this weekend at Brown University. I’m relieved she is in stable condition and am wishing her and the others who were injured a full and a speedy recovery.

Thank you @foushee.house.gov and @jahimes.bsky.social who cosponsored H.R.2368!
We urge Members of Congress to pass the Raise the Age Act to raise the age to purchase assault rifles to 21.

Happy Hanukkah to everyone celebrating in the Fourth District and around the world! May these next eight nights be filled with peace, light, and joy.
My heart is with the victims of last night’s horrific antisemitic attack in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah.
No one should ever have to fear for their lives as they express their faith. We must all remain committed to rooting out all forms of hate, violence & antisemitism from our society.
I am devastated by the news of a shooting at Brown University. My heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire community during this difficult time.
Congress must do more to protect our communities and prevent these acts of violence. Enough is enough.
With many major companies seeing record profits despite this surge of layoffs, it's time for Congress to step up.
As the only Woman of Color on the House Democrat Commission on AI, I'm proud to lead this effort and will keep pushing for answers for the American people. (4/4)
Meanwhile, marginalized communities are feeling the brunt of Trump's economy that prioritizes oligarchs over working families, and wondering what “Winning the AI Race” really means for them.
The unemployment rate for Black Americans has increased to 7.5%, up from 5.7% a year ago. (3/4)
In 2025 alone, we've seen over 50,000 jobs lost which were specifically cited as AI-related reductions.
Overall, total layoff announcements for 2025 have surpassed 1.1 million job cuts, the most since the 2020 pandemic.
All this, despite major companies seeing record profits. (2/4)
As Co-Chair of the @housedemocrats.bsky.social Commission on AI, I am proud to share my AI Jobs Report and subsequent launch of an investigation into major companies to gain clarity on AI's impact on American jobs. (1/4)

I signed Rep. Luna's discharge petition to force a vote on legislation to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.
It's simple: you can't properly advocate for your district if you're busy trying to cash out.
I voted against the Republican motion to table @algreen.house.gov's articles of impeachment against President Trump.
This is a President who ignores the rules of law, side-steps court orders, and has even called for the death penalty to be used against lawmakers.
He is unfit for office.
Working Americans are losing their jobs in the tens of thousands while tech companies make record profits.
Since Congress won't pass any AI legislation that protects working families, I'm demanding clarity from these companies on these job cuts.

Trump gives his economy an "A+++++".
I'm sending out some homework this holiday season to find out if that's really the case.
Stay tuned...

Although I’m grateful the NDAA included a provision federally recognizing the Lumbee Tribe, a measure I’ve long supported, I voted no because it falls short for our servicemembers, prioritizes Trump’s partisan militarized agenda, & gives ICE and CBP access to DoD resources at the southern border.
The resolution would designate May 20 as National Women in Aerospace Day, in honor of Amelia Earhart departing on her solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic on May 20, 1932.
Women have long been trailblazers in aerospace, and Congress' recognition of their achievements is long overdue. (2/2)

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
