During his service in the Congress, I witnessed Rep. David Scott’s hard work transform the lives of countless farmers and Americans.
I'm deeply saddened by his passing, and I pray his family is comforted by knowing how much of a positive impact he had in Georgia and our country.
Happy Earth Day! While we celebrate nature and our beautiful communities, the work remains to stop the climate change threatening our health, ecosystems, & natural resources.
Today & every day let us make sustainable decisions and implement solutions that protect our planet for future generations.
Great to visit Charlotte Hall Veterans Home with Gov. Moore & witness the profound impact of our collective action to strengthen health care for veterans.
Team Maryland remains committed to ensuring that Marylanders who bravely served our nation in uniform receive the quality of care they deserve.
The FSGG bill is supposed to be the vehicle for funding agencies that power our government to operate in the best interests of the American people. Instead, it falls far short.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov will keep fighting to ensure the government works for those it is supposed to serve.
Our nation's veterans deserve better than what they've experienced over the past year and a half from the Trump Administration.
Tune in at 11:00 a.m. as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov work to honor the promises we made to those who served and their families:
Proud to announce that the Maryland Fifth District’s 45th Annual Service Academy & College ROTC Showcase will take place on Friday, May 8th.

Republicans continue to slash programs and protections that ensure our elections are secure and protect Americans from scams & higher costs for services they need.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov will keep standing against their efforts to leave hardworking Americans vulnerable & on their own.
It was an honor to join the groundbreaking for the new ARLIS facility at UMD. I was proud to secure federal funding for advanced research infrastructure at UMD & am thrilled to see quantum computing initiatives expanding. I look forward to the exciting discoveries that will emerge from the facility.
Serving on the Helsinki Commission was one of the defining chapters of my 45 years in the House.
As I gathered with past and present Members & staff of the commission, we were reminded that democracy’s survival is never inevitable; it requires vigilance, cooperation, courage, and above all, action.
Instead of investing in our civic institutions, Republicans are slashing federal programs and services that protect and make life more affordable for hardworking American families.
Tune in now as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight back:
I was honored to join the NFFF Flag Ceremony to remember our fallen heroes and give thanks for their sacrifice for our nation.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I will continue my work to keep our firefighters safe in the line of duty and support their families.
It was an honor to be recognized by the St. Mary's River Watershed Association for my work to combat the challenges that our beloved St. Mary's River & its ecosystem face. I look forward to continuing our partnership to support a healthier, cleaner, & more sustainable St. Mary's River and watershed.
Today I join Jewish communities around the world to observe Yom HaShoah in remembrance of the 6 million Jews killed in the Nazis' horrific genocide.
It is up to all of us to ensure that the memory of the Holocaust doesn't fade from history but instead helps shape a better, more just future for all.
He truly represented what it means to better one's community and one's country. I extend my deepest condolences to Eliot's family. May his memory be a blessing.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend, former Congressman Eliot Engel, whom I served with for 32 years. Eliot's service to his constituents - & his beloved home borough, the Bronx - never wavered as he worked to protect our national security while upholding the highest of our values.
Local newsrooms not only keep our communities aware, but they help Americans make informed decisions & hold our leaders accountable.
On Local News Day and every day, I encourage those in #MD05 & beyond to reconnect with their most trusted local news sources & recommit to supporting the free press.
To all in #MD05 and across the country who celebrate, Happy Easter!
May you enjoy a celebratory day with your loved ones as we welcome the arrival of spring and a season of joy and renewal.
DEADLINE EXTENDED: I am accepting submissions for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition until Friday, April 10, 2026.
I encourage all #MD05 high school students to submit their artwork to my office. To learn more about submission requirements, visit my website:

American tax dollars should fund programs & services that serve & protect Americans – not gilded ballrooms & tax giveaways for billionaire donors. While Trump & Republicans prioritize the ultra-wealthy, House Democrats are working to lower the high cost of living & fix our broken health care system.
NATO is the Free World’s best defense against aggression. Trump's dangerous threats to withdraw the U.S. from the alliance further undermines the U.S.'s relationship with our allies and jeopardizes global security and prosperity.
My colleagues and I will continue to defend NATO in Congress beyond.
