Big news: after we demanded they stand down, the Trump admin stopped its plans to rip out 80% of our nation's ocean research equipment. This proposal should never have seen the light of day. Our coastal economies deserve better than being treated as collateral damage in an ideological crusade.
Breaking News: The Trump administration is backing off a plan to end an ocean monitoring system critical to understanding climate change.
As our nation marks 250 years, let's rededicate ourselves to what it actually means to be American: freedom, self-government, opportunity, and the belief that each generation can move our country closer to its founding promise of a more perfect union. www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
Yesterday, @carbajal.house.gov and I reintroduced a bill to protect blue whales and reduce harmful coastal air pollution. This is a win-win for public health and the environment, helping make California's coastline cleaner, safer, and healthier for both marine life and coastal communities.
There you have it: solar is now generating more energy than coal. That didn’t stop Trump from lighting $700 million taxpayer dollars on fire to try and prop up the coal industry. But the proof is there. Solar is cheaper, cleaner, more reliable.
Hot take: The President of the United States should care that Americans are getting pummeled by inflation and want to do something to lower costs.
Q: Are you concerned about the latest inflation numbers that came out this morning? TRUMP: No, I love it. I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over -- do you know we've been taking out millions of barrels of oil? You know who doesn't know? Iran until right now.
You can't make this stuff up. Trump just nominated Todd Blanche – his former personal lawyer and key architect of hits like the Epstein coverup and Trump’s $1.8 billion DOJ slush fund – to be Attorney General.
Washington isn't Trump's personal playground to relive his real estate glory days or fill with gaudy vanity projects. He should focus on lowering costs to help American families, not wasting taxpayer money redecorating D.C. www.the-independent.com/news/world/a...
Coal. That’s the new, big energy plan? The Trump admin is spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars trying to prop up an industry that's already been outcompeted. Americans deserve affordable, clean energy—not another costly bailout. www.sfgate.com/news/bayarea...
Thank you to the scientists, advocates, researchers, and leaders who are working every day to expand our understanding of the ocean and protect its future.   Del Norte County: Alan Justice; Klamath River mouth
As Capitol Hill Ocean Week wraps up, I’m heading back to my district and its spectacular coastlines with deep appreciation. What happens in our oceans matters deeply to the communities I represent, from our fishermen and businesses to our wildlife and coastal ecosystems.
That’s just some of what these massive corporations and billionaires are getting for cutting a check for Trump’s ballroom. If it looks like pay-to-play corruption, that's because it is. My committee has been investigating this for months, and we will hold everyone accountable.
