Completely true. Laugh-out-loud funny at many moments, and the celebrity players (I had heard of maybe 1/3rd of them, about the same for me as Traitors US) come to it in exactly the right spirit--both lighthearted and crazily committed.
It's okay for some campaign promises to be about optics rather than policy. "We're going to bulldoze his monument to himself on Day One and rebuild the East Wing" would be a very good one for 2028.

There are people who strongly feel that anybody should be able to go into any play with no prior knowledge and get it and enjoy it. Stoppard didn't write for them, and it seems silly to resent him for it, since it's not as if there aren't a trillion other things for people who insist on that to see.
