In 1865, when the announcement of freedom finally reached the enslaved people of Galveston, it wasn’t just news — it was a call that still echoes. Despite the challenges we face, Juneteenth reminds us that every generation must take up the cause of building a more just society.
Juneteenth is a freedom story — a testimony that liberation may be delayed, but it cannot be denied. We honor the joy this day represents, and I hope everyone in IL-01 has a fantastic time celebrating.
This is a testament to the power of the people organizing against injustice. What the civil rights movement teaches us is that no mountain is too high, no valley is too low, and no hatred is too overwhelming that it cannot be defeated.
After choosing to go to war, then failing on all negotiations for peace, the Trump administration is just releasing the details on the preliminary agreement. Congress must be a check on this administration’s warmongering and lead on the path forward for peace.
After the sudden passing of Spencer Leak Jr., may we honor him not only with words, but with works. May we protect the institutions he strengthened. May we cherish the Black family businesses that have held our communities together through migration, segregation, violence, pandemic, & grief.
Congratulations to Cape Verde on playing their first-ever men’s World Cup finals match! It is shameful that the U.S. Administration has created such division like the visa issues the Player of the Match, Vozinha’s mother faced, that made her unable to witness this moment and support her son.
#DACA14- I stand in solidarity with DREAMers who are under attack by this Administration. DACA recipients are Americans who enrich our communities & are essential to our nation. They deserve security & a pathway to citizenship. Pass @sylviagarcia.house.gov's American Dream & Promise Act. #HomeisHere
On March 11, President Trump said “In the first hour it was over.” But over 2500 hours later, the conflict is still raging. I remain concerned that such an opaque diplomatic process has been undertaken and very few details are available. Congress must exercise oversight on any accord with Iran.
Today in 1775, the Army was established & in 1777, the flag was adopted. As we wish a happy 251st birthday to @usarmy.bsky.social and 249th birthday to the flag, we also honor sacrifices so many made to protect what the “red, white & blue” symbolizes: freedom, hope, & equality at home and abroad.

Before the world heard Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech, Bayard Rustin helped make that moment possible.
As an openly gay civil rights strategist and organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, his leadership helped change America.
This #PrideMonth, we honor his legacy. 🏳️🌈
As the DRC & Uganda are grappling with one of the worst Ebola outbreaks in history, @amo.house.gov, @robinkelly.house.gov, & I were joined by 74 of our colleagues to hold this administration to account over their illegal, unnecessary, and cruel cuts to global health and disease prevention programs.
It’s another busy week in Washington, and I will continue to fight for what matters most for IL-01. Want to stay up to date on the issues and events happening in DC and at home? Sign up for my newsletter to receive updates directly to your inbox. jonathanjacksonforms.house.gov/forms/emails...
Honored to join my colleagues, Ambassador Tai, @pcgtw.bsky.social, and @uaw.org to discuss ways we can deliver for working-class people across the industrial Midwest. RSVP to join this important conversation!

Your birth control is your right.
Today, 61 years after #SCOTUS decided Griswold v. Connecticut, RFC Members are fighting harder than ever against Republican attacks on family planning, and we will never stand down.
Donald Trump and House GOP: back off our birth control.
The U.S. - through the generosity of the American people -provided life-saving aid to build long-term solutions to poverty and disease around the world. Rolling this back is cruel, unnecessary, and harms Americans. Great to speak with you @congresswalker.bsky.social
As Haitian Heritage Month ends, I honor the Haitian roots woven into Chicago’s history. Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable- the Father of Chicago- laid the foundation for the vibrant, world-class city we know today. Haitians have long strengthened the cultural, economic, & social fabric of this nation.
Happy Pride Month, IL-01 🏳️🌈! Grateful to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as they celebrate the power of living boldly & authentically. This month honors the progress made in the fight for equality & reminds us of the important work that still lies ahead. Here’s to visibility, joy, & unwavering pride.
Congratulations to the talented Kai Isoke Ali-Landing for admission into Carnegie Hall's 2026 National Youth Orchestra of the United States (NYO-USA)! It is always an honor to highlight accomplished and bright students from #IL01
Wishing a blessed Eid al-Adha to all who are celebrating around the world. May this day of gratitude, sacrifice, and compassion bring peace and unity to our diverse and vibrant communities.
As we approach Memorial Day, I honor the ultimate sacrifice our troops have made and demand we bring them home from this reckless, unconstitutional war.
