Russia is the 3rd largest military in world. It encompasses 11 time zones and is rich in oil and minerals. Its population is more than 3 times the size of Ukraine. Nonetheless Putin covets the territory of Ukraine, the lowest income nation in Europe.
🧵 For the continuing horror Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has exacted on the people and free nation of Ukraine, this multiple strike by Ukrainian drones on key Russian military air field assets is long overdue.
Great to join civic leaders and the NW Ohio community to welcome the first Great Lakes Cruise Ship to dock at port in Toledo in more than 20 years. I hope all of our new visitors enjoy taking in the sights, and all our great region and people have to offer! 🚢
The termination of $3.7 Billion in DOE investments including $60 Million for NW OH is a direct attack on American workers. Cancelling critical projects threatens good paying jobs, weakens industries and cedes ground to China. This Administration continues to abandon a clean and secure energy future.

Holy Trump tariff whiplash, Batman! A court invalidated many tariffs last night but today another court revived them. Please join me for a brief guided what-it-means tour of 24 hrs of tariff drama starting w/ the US Court of Int’l Trade (USCIT) ending tariffs by 6/7/25… 🧵
Screenshot of a court judgment dated May 28, 2025. The judgment declares that four executive orders issued in 2025—Executive Orders 14193, 14194, 14195, and 14257—related to imposing duties to address illicit drug flows, border issues, the synthetic opioid supply chain, and trade deficits with China, are collectively invalid and contrary to law. The court further orders that the operation of these "Challenged Tariff Orders," including any modifications and amendments, is permanently enjoined.
Convened an agricultural roundtable at Scott Chalfin’s farm in Sandusky County. We discussed the need for a strong Farm Bill, and programs available to help farmers, producers, and growers recover after a season of drought. Thanks to all for spending time during a busy planting season.
Today on #National529Day, we reaffirm our commitment to making education more accessible and affordable. Every student deserves the chance to succeed, and tools like these bring that goal closer to home.
In May 2023 I joined Donna and Jeff Heck, Co-Founders of 33 Forever to announce federal funding secured for Dani’s Place—an incredible tribute to the life of Danielle “Dani” Leedy. 2 years later we gathered again during National Mental Health Month to announce that Dani’s Place will open next month.
🚨Reckless across the board tariffs against our trading partners have been struck down by the US Court of International Trade. When used properly, Tariffs can be an effective tool. This policy blunder has cost working families Billions of dollars and created unnecessary tension with our Allies.🚨
Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity undertook a herculean task and put new roofs on 500 homes across our region. Honored to join local community advocates and housing leaders today to celebrate this milestone accomplishment. When we come together as a community, we can truly achieve great progress.
A military parade in Washington for the President’s birthday is a misuse of taxpayer funds and an abuse of power by the commander in chief. This comes at the same time that the GOP are pushing through tax cuts for the rich on the backs of Medicaid, SNAP and Medicare cuts for working class Americans.
Recognizing the solemnity of Memorial Day at Clay Memorial Stadium in Oregon today with veterans young and old. Also pleased to see 98 year old WWII veteran James “Zeke” Zettner and to present medals my office helped obtain from the Department of Defense to family of the late WWII POW Martin Bodi.
In Genoa, OH today for a solemn tribute to those lost in service to our grateful nation. On Memorial Day we remember those who heroically gave their lives in defense of Liberty and freedom for us all.
“He has a gift for negotiating that is unparalleled. He has been true to the UAW and to Local 12 . . . If you talk to Bruce Baumhower about any contract, he didn’t even have to look at the book. He knew the line and the page. He knew every word.” @uaw.org
Memorial Day wreath laying and observance alongside veterans of all ages in Toledo as we pay tribute to those lost in defense of our nation. A somber, yet powerful reminder of the sacrifices many generations have made to bequeath Liberty and freedom to us all.
As we approach Memorial Day and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, it’s an honor to receive the 2024 American Legion Department of Ohio Legislator of the Year Award. It is the highest privilege to serve those who gave selflessly so that our nation could enjoy the blessings of Liberty.
