Glad to host Ohio Soybean Association members from NW Ohio in DC this week to talk about agriculture priorities for the Farm Bill and working together to protect both farmers and our natural resources.
Once again Ohio is at the forefront of lunar exploration. The Orion capsule from NASA’s Artemis I launch is back from the Moon, and at NASA Armstrong’s world class test facilities in Sandusky. It will now be tested to ensure readiness for a manned mission.
Great to welcome Rebecca Liebes, Justin Moor, and Bill Harris from the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio to DC today to discuss ways we can work together to address the needs of seniors across our communities.
Pleased to deliver major federal support with Senator Sherrod Brown to the City of Toledo to reconnect East Toledo to major redevelopment along the waterfront. Reconnecting long separated neighborhoods allows access to Glass City Metropark and commercial districts.
I send the Secretary fond wishes on her retirement. I know that she will never stop fighting for the people of Northern Ohio no matter what role or title she might take on in her next chapter.
Secretary Fudge's help has been invaluable to Northwest Ohio as we sought housing and community development solutions to keep our neighborhoéds safe and vibrant. During her visit to Toledo last Spring it was great to see my friend and continue to work together in her new role.
🧵I am honored to have worked alongside HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge during her tenure in Congress, and want to wish her well as she transitions out of her role as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Ramadan Mubarak to those celebrating in NW Ohio, across our nation, and around the globe. May you find meaning in time spent with family and friends during this important time of year as you observe #Ramadan.
Today marks the first federally recognized US Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day to ensure stories of Americans unjustly detained abroad are never forgotten. To American detainees and their families, we see you, we hear you, and we won’t stop working until every hostage is home.
Honored to welcome Erie County’s Sue Daugherty, Executive Director of Serving Our Seniors, as my guest for the State of the Union address. House Democrats lowered prescription drug prices and capped the cost of insulin at $35 for seniors without a single vote from House Republicans.
Sue Daugherty truly represents the best of NW Ohio’s senior advocate community, having spent nearly four decades of her life ensuring that our seniors can age with dignity. You can read more about Sue Daugherty and her work with Serving Our Seniors here:
In Congress I have long championed assistance for seniors across our country. I have co-sponsored legislation to lower prescription drug costs, cap the cost of insulin for seniors on #Medicare at $35 per month, and to raise #SocialSecurity payments to keep up with modern times.
Honored to announce that a champion for Erie County seniors, Sue Daugherty the Founding Executive Director of Serving Our Seniors will join me as my guest for the State of the Union.
This weekend I had the pleasure to meet Girl Scouts from Troop 1006 in NW Ohio. As a once and always Girl Scout, I have long lived by our motto “be prepared.” It is great to see the next generation of scouts out in action—cookies are on sale until April, get them while you can.
On Triple Negative Breast Cancer Awareness Day we commit to fight this terrible disease — TNBC is an aggressive type of breast cancer, accounting for 15% of all breast cancers — it tends to grow and spread faster, has fewer treatment options, and tends to have a worse prognosis.
For the first time in 3 decades the largest city in Northwest Ohio will have a community college campus at its heart. I invite all Toledoans to celebrate this new partnership announced this week by University of Toledo, Owens Community College, and Toledo Public Schools to open a Scott Park campus.
