🎥 LIVE NOW: I’m joined by gun safety advocates as we demand real solutions against crime—not troops in our streets. President Trump cut $16M from programs that save lives while sending the National Guard into Chicago.

No president gets to bend the law to suit his agenda.
The judge made it plain: Illinois isn’t a war zone, and Chicago doesn’t need the National Guard on its streets.
I’ll keep fighting against this wannabe dictator.
Kids shouldn’t be pawns in political fights. Programs like Local Food for Schools and SNAP feed children and sustain local farmers. Cutting these programs hurt our kids, our schools, and the family farms that feed us. We should strengthen, not slash, these vital investments.
During this Republican shutdown, my office and I remain here to serve you.

Farmers don’t need another band-aid from President Trump—they need trade stability and open markets. His trade war wounded America’s heartland, and now his shutdown keeps us from helping those he hurt.
Farmers deserve solutions, not stunts.
It’s day 8 of President Trump’s Republican Shutdown.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are ready to work for the American people. But Republicans refuse to stand up to him, or come to the table, while Americans pay the price for their inaction.
Sickened to hear Trustee Muñoz’s reports from inside the Broadview ICE facility. Detainees are held in unsanitary, overcrowded cells with poor ventilation and limited access to restrooms.
Meanwhile, Sec. Noem was shooting a promotional video. She treats people like props — it’s disgusting.
President Trump doesn't want to lead; he wants to be a dictator. Calling for the arrest of elected officials for doing their jobs is unAmerican and unacceptable.
America doesn't have kings or dictators. I refuse to let him act like one.
Illinois Democrats are fighting back.
@chuygarcia.house.gov & @ramirez.house.gov on the Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees are demanding answers from Sec. Noem and ICE. We were there Sunday to hear from South Shore families, and they want us to hold ICE accountable.
Under Secretary Noem’s reckless leadership, ICE has turned Chicago neighborhoods into war zones. Flashbangs, helicopters, and fear are not tools of public safety—they’re an abuse of power.
Our communities deserve care, not cruelty, and real leadership, not chaos.
President Trump & Republicans shut down the government, and now he's sending the National Guard to Chicago. This is not leadership.
President Trump is a WEAK president who uses fear as a weapon to hide his own problems and failures. Federal troops are not an answer to crime.
President Trump and Republicans shut down the government, gutted healthcare, and blocked the Epstein Files from being released.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are standing up for the truth and fighting to ensure every American family has affordable healthcare.
Two years after the attack on Israel by Hamas, I continue to mourn the innocent lives lost and pray for the 48 hostages still held.
In the years since, over 65,000 Palestinians have died. It’s time to end this war. Both peoples deserve lasting peace.
Today, we marked a step forward for the South Side. My grandson is thrilled about these updated Metra stations, which include accessible entrances, elevators, and better lighting—changes that make a real difference. Everyone deserves safe, modern transit that connects them to opportunity.
Yesterday, I stood with our South Shore and immigrant communities to tell ICE to get the hell out of our city.
President Trump is ordering 300 National Guard troops into Chicago to help ICE agents terrorize immigrant families. This is not the America I know.

Republicans chose chaos over solutions. They shut down the government and spread lies about immigrants to distract from the truth.
I want what families in my district want—affordable health care for every American and a government that works for the people.
Thank you to @ramirez.house.gov, @chuygarcia.house.gov & @jonathanjackson.house.gov for joining me in standing up for our communities. Together, we’re showing the strength of Black and Brown unity—demanding accountability & rejecting Trump’s fear-driven politics in Chicago.
Today I hosted a press conference demanding justice for communities menaced by Trump’s ICE, his government shutdown, and his deployment of the National Guard—all designed to spread fear and chaos in our city.

No one is above the law. The Epstein Files should not be hidden from the public. The victims and the American people deserve transparency, justice, and accountability.
Release the Files.
